“Lovely room and really great staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

I did an overnight at the Marriott in Cebu for the start of a couple weeks of island hoping in the Philippines. It’s a Marriott, so the level of service is quite good. Very snappy and friendly staff who genuinely seemed interested in their guests (it was my first time in the Philippines and I later discovered that Filipino people are generally quite warm, gracious and friendly). The hotel itself is next to a very nice mall that has a ton of food options if you don’t want the hotel food (which, of course is overpriced anyway). The room itself was typical of Marriott and was very nicely appointed with a very comfy bed that had a lighting system which was actually nice in that you could make the lighting quite romantic to set that perfect mood. The only not so good thing was the bath/shower had an excruciatingly slow drain. After being in the shower for a min or two you were ankle deep in water. I called down and workers came up and only confirmed that yes, it was working, just incredibly slow. I didn’t worry about it as we were there for only one night, but hopefully it’s not like that in all the rooms. Also, they don't provide a free hotel shuttle, which is rather odd. They do however, have internet which was good and pretty fast.

Overall, if you’re going to Cebu City and want an upscale place to stay, then Marriott is basically you’re only real game in town, as there’s not a lot of choices in Cebu. In my opinion it’s very nice as it’s just spotlessly clean, elegant and true to Marriott’s name.

Hope this helps.

Stayed with my wife for one night in the hotel after trip to Moalboal. Location is perfect (near Ayala shopping mall and ten minutes by car from Magellan cross), staff is very friendly and helpful, room is clean and wifi internet is fast and free of charge, but sound insulation is very bad. There was a construction near the hotel and we could hear how workpeople cursed. There was a live music in the evening outside and we could hear every song in our room. Prices for food / minibar are rather high for tourists but this is more business class hotel.

This hotel was of a high standard and was ideal for our short stay on a stop over between islands for diving. The staff were friendly and attentive and available to answer any of our questions. They arranged our airport transfer for very early the following morning which was good value. The room service was excellent, although not cheap, and the beds were very comfortable.

I would recommend this for a short stay, it didn't appear to be that close to main attractions, but I don't think this is somewhere I would stay for a holiday anyway.

We had to plan a short vacation, so we have decided to visit Cebu.
The hotel is nice and very close to Ayala Mall (seems to be the biggest mall in town). The hotel is not located in downtown, you'll need to take a cab if you want to move in the city. But to be honest, there is nothing to do in Cebu. If you are planning to go there for a stop over, then don't stay more than 2 nights.
Hotel was very nice but breakfast was poor.

I understand this hotel is rated best for the area. I do agree with that. I am out here on business for 6 weeks. Im only 3 weeks in and there has been non stop construction to the surrounding area. If you are planning to come here and work the overnight shift and sleep during the day, please stay away. Nothing but jack hammering, banging and sirens.

Otherwise, the staff is very nice. The dining area for food is ok. They tend to set up at 3am for breakfast at 6am. This means their sushi has been sitting out for 3+hours. Stay away until they replenish it. They dont clean the tables to fast sometimes on the weekend when they get too busy creating a backup and a wait. There is not to many places local to eat well so you might as well wait.

Rooms are either to hot or to cold. Very hard to control. Thermostats are broken. I usually run out of hot water in the morning. Never had that happen at a hotel before. I can take hour long showers, not here. 20 minutes tops in the morning hours.

Room Tip: Face the pool or mall not street view

Staff are friendly and nice. The hotel is beside Ayala mall were you can shop and eat. Ayala mall houses the famous CNT lechon in the food court which is less crowded. My hotel of choice when I'm in Cebu!

Good location next to ayala with a lot of restaurants and stores. Service at the hotel restaurant was mainly good but some of the waiters gave service according to if you tipped extra. They judged you apperrance first but I always give extra if the service is good but none if I do not like it. But my opinion is if you charge 10% service charge I expect good service because I already paid for it. But the location of the hotel is well worth the stay because we tried once to take a walk outside the hotel but there is nothing to see and we did not feel safe.
My tip is stay in the area of the hotel and mall.
