“Amazing for a price”

I choose this hotel because it was cheaper than other. Location was amazing. Hotel was comparably new and was managed rather nicely. Breakfast was included and was fairly nice. I liked it a lot, I cannot find a reason not to comeback.

- got an early check in at 6am
- was greeted an advance happy bday by ms chris at the reception
- she arranged a cake to be sent in our room
- was given a very spacious corner room
- very friendly, warm & cheerful staff
- very elegant lobby & clean rooms
- comfortable bed, good wifi connection everywhere (free)
- had room service, nice & delicious brekky
- convenient location, right next to SM mall

After checking out reviews of hotels in Cebu City I decided to book a room at the Radisson Blu for four nights via their online reservation system, about a month before my trip. The booking was easy and quick with the confirmation arriving via e-mail very promptly. A nice touch was sending an e-mail showing just the contact details for the hotel – great for printing out and giving to friends, or for showing to taxi drivers.

I certainly cannot complain about the price either! A five star hotel for around the same price that I have paid for three star motels in Australia before!

The hotel is well located right next to the SM Mall Cebu – a 50 metre walk away – and not too far from the ferry piers for Bohol.

Arrival was easy with plenty of staff to open your car door, gather your luggage, deal with the security check and open the lobby door to get you inside as soon as possible. Once inside you are greeted by a very pleasant young lady who escorts you across the huge lobby to the front desk. Check in was easy, quick and without hassles – as it always should but sadly is not always the case. Another pleasant young lady mans the lifts so basically you don't have to much at all other than sign your check in card.

The superior room I had was clean, reasonably well maintained and very spacious. The bathroom is large although if you like having :a bath – sorry, shower only! There is an inbuilt safe in the room along with the usual expectations. Of note was the free wi-fi throughout the hotel – excellent speed and connectivity too. The king size bed was good, perhaps a little too firmish for my tastes but I usually have that problem everywhere. My room (826) had a good view of the harbour which was interesting

Every staff member I dealt with was friendly and the service very, very good in general. The only time the standard dropped was in the Lobby Bar where sometimes the ladies were a little aloof and not attentive enough to your empty glass! However, that was the only drop off in standards that I experienced throughout the four days at the hotel. The Lobby Bar itself is not blessed with a huge choice of local or domestic beers but overall the prices were pretty reasonable by Australian standards.

Breakfast in the restaurant is buffet style as is now common enough. The quality of the food was excellent and the selection was extensive! Some people may baulk at the lack of choice in some European styles of breakfast and it definitely caters more towards regional and American choices. At the price it is a pretty decent way of starting the day. Service was friendly and efficient.

Dinner was also mainly buffet, although I believe a la carte is also available. Again the quality of the food was excellent although I felt the selection was a little limited overall especially in the near microscopically sized desserts. Service was again friendly and efficient.

Of course not everything was perfect and my favourite bugbear was to the fore – not restocking the mini-bar every day! Surely it is not that hard to restock the mini-bar everyday? The room itself was showing a little bit of tiredness and needs a bit of refreshing – a good steam clean of the carpet might help. The bench top in the bathroom was quite marked and needs a complete cut and polish too. The cockroach wandering around the Lobby Bar was also not quite 5 star! The hotel guide in the room is out of date and needs updating – foreign currency exchange is NOT available at the front desk as indicated by the guide.

Overall, a good hotel and very good value on a 21 day advance purchase rate. Normal rack rate still makes this a good choice. I will certainly be staying here when next in Cebu City

Stayed there for 4 nights to attend a medical congress. Its was nice experience. Spacious room with better amenities. However, the swimming pool is not that much big. Staffs are gentle and smiling. Breakfast menu was better. Very posiitive location, just beside one of the big mall of Cebu.

Booked and paid for two rooms a month prior to arrival thru their website and was looking forward to the five star service that is expected of a hotel in this category. A week before arrival, got some emails asking our exact arrival time for and the advise that I am enrolled to club Carlson and my card will be waiting when I check-in.

It was then a BIG disappointment to be told at check-in that our rooms are not ready yet but my family and I took it with a smile and just told them that for the time being, we will just have a late lunch at their lobby lounge since main restaurant was already closed. Reception assured us that they will look for us as soon as the rooms are ready.

After an hour and a half, I went back to the reception and asked about our rooms. The lady dialed housekeeping and then told us that rooms are still not ready trying to give an excuse that they were full the day before and it takes time to have rooms cleaned. At this point, I told her that it is not acceptable as we waited more than enough and my granddaughter is now getting tired and why did they not get extra staff to clean then so guests coming in the next day are not kept waiting. I likewise mentioned that their check out time is 12:00N and check-in is supposed to be 14:00H and we in fact arrived at 14:30H and it is now 16:00H. She then dialed again housekeeping and after some minutes, she told us that only one room is ready and if we can all stay there till the other one is soon ready. This was again accepted and she assured us that after an hour, one will bring up the key to the other room,

As we were walking in the hallway towards the one room we got, we passed by a room being supposedly cleaned but we can see and hear the two housekeeping staff chitchatting with each other rather than cleaning. This prompted my son to say "no wonder rooms are not ready"...

Nobody came up to bring the key for the other room and I have to call the reception again at around 17:45 asking what is going on. I was assured that the key will be handed to us in ten minutes as they are still readying the room. Ten minutes came and went. The key was finally given to us at around 18:00H... four hours after supposed check-in time.

For small inns and hotels, this can be tolerated BUT not on a big chain as Radisson where notices about 100% satisfaction guaranteed is all over the room. Why spend time and effort to correspond a week before when the hotel is not ready at arrival anyway?

Besides the lady at the elevator area who tells you each time "this way to the lobby", not much of a service anywhere else... Reception has to be more smiling and charming especially if some of the assured rooms are not available when you arrive.

Room Tip: nothing to recommend if no rooms are ready when you arrive anyway.

My partner and I came to Cebu on a business trip.Coming in from a very long flight from Auckland NZ..we were met by a very nice young man holding our name on a card with a smile.We were able to check in very fast and was brought up to a very nice clean elegant room. Things were really excellent during our stay and I loved how the ladies that usher you to the lifts were always so friendly and smiling .I will have to say that i was very impressed by the housekeepers that touched up our room.they made us feel so special each day ,coming back from a long day of business we would find our room so immaculately put back together.

Room Tip: get a deluxe room its a really good size room for 2 people

five-star hotel, five-star rate on the service and amenities. just right beside the shopping mall so you dont need to worry about anything. the place is huge and very luxurious. perfect place to unwind or for business trips. would definitely recommend this to my friends travelling to Cebu.
