“What happened to Tinder Box?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

What happened to this elegant restaurant-deli shop that I used to frequent a few years back? I went abroad a couple of years ago and just got the chance to visit the country again the last few days. Although the interior has a bit changed, the wine cellar has this wine dispenser system that was great, the charm seems to have disappeared. This used to be a restaurant frequented by the elite of cebu. As a businessman acquainted with the hotel industry, I found the waiters unkempt and less attentive, the food ok but nothing outstanding, the price too expensive for what you get, The staff does not know what they are selling as opposed to a few years back when I was so impressed with the selling skills of their crew in the deli section and wines. The cleanliness is also no longer as perfect. What changed?

“Special Cheeses and sausages”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

I always buy my cheeses and sausages from their deli. They have fresh and varied selections. More choices are even available during the Christmas season where specialty chocolates are also great finds.

“Expensive and disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

I was very disappointing to eat at this restaurant. One time years ago it was very good but now, just expensive and ok, but not up to the price or the decor, which is attractive.

I will not eat at here again. sorry.

“An enviable wine cellar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

Wines from all over the world are sold from a rear wine cellar that houses hundreds of bottles. A rather large range from Australia saw us held up in that one area for quite some time! A number of wines on display can be tasted for a mere 25-45 pesos, depending on the quality and choice of wine, or bought by the glass or bottle. Well worth a look! Tinder Box is for the cashed up Filipinos and foreigners. The shop counter offers a large range of cheeses and meats for purchase, but an antipasto platter cannot be found on their extensive, and perhaps, rather more expensive menu. Don't be surprised if your regular crust pizza is as thin as the thin pizza. There seemed to be no difference. That said, both were delicious! Renovation and expansion of its deli/ cafe area and its Z-Bar ( upstairs drinking bar, no live music or dancing) will soon commence and will make it an even bigger and better place to go.
