“Very good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. More than the room themselves, its the hotel as a whome which is very nice. The spaces around the restaurant and after the entrance is a good place to relax. There is also a swimming pool and a good view on the sea. i do not know about the price because i was invited but definitely a good and very quiet place in Davao.

Waterfront Insular is a distance from the poblacion area; prepare to take taxis to everywhere. We came for a day visit and enjoyed the topiaries scattered around the garden facing the beach and Samal Island. The hotel staff was clearly keeping the surroundings clean and orderly in this aging hotel. Since it was a hot summer day, we relished the refreshing breeze off the water. Although, I was disappointed to see the No Swimming Signs right on the beach. What a shame. Well, there's always the swimming pool.

spacious for a convention event yet you will see the aging rooms and facilities. Wish adjacent shore line are clean and not stinky.

The room was wonderful but the view wasn't nice. Try to get the more expensive of the room type since more likely, it's the one facing the waters. I booked this since I thought there was a beach at the front but alas, you cannot swim there! There are swimming pools though, so don't fret! Food inside the hotel was splendid! Especially the one that's quite isolated...the one that's "floating".
It's quite a walk from the hotel entrance to the gate entrance. I mentioned this because if you're up to get some local food, it's not the place to be. You have to hire a cab to go somewhere else to explore Davao's yummy food or to buy souvenirs. If you're okay with Jollibee, you can call them to get a delivery or simply walk for 10 minutes to get to the fast food restaurant.

I also have to mention that they have a yummy breakfast to start your day!

Room Tip: Rooms that are pricier have good views.

I first stayed at this hotel about 25 years ago. And while the grounds are as beautiful as ever and the pool is an absolute delight, the rooms badly need to be brought up to speed. They are clean as a whistle but outdated and showing a lot of wear and tear. The staff are great and the food okay (although overpriced for the Philippines). Venture into the city to get superior food at cheaper prices.

I'd still consider staying here for the pool and the grounds (and maybe out of nostalgia) but other hotels in the area have much nicer rooms and more modern facilities.

I stayed for 6 days for business & my host came from that area but that's the only reason. As some of the other reviews have said, Davoa is pretty extensive and the hotel is right down one end by the port & airport. So its a fair hike to the city centre. Better places in town. No ocean swimming due to the port. The wedding party seemed pretty happy though. Rooms OK, wifi OK. Breakfast good. Never ate in the place. Grog prices high so do your drinking elsewhere.
Nice place in general with staff friendly & helpful. Pool ok so if distance from town works for you then this is ok.

We visited this hotel for 1 week in March 2012. The staff is very friendly and ready to help, the room incl. the bathroom is spacious, the interior a little outdated (but modern TV, WC). The bedding comfortable, all clean. What is missing is more light in the room - there should be a headlight in the room itself otherwise its a bi dark in evenings. The pool is big enough for a little swim and cool down. The beach is a pity and not for swimming. The breakfast buffet is great and has a big variety of warm and cold food. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is relaxing and recommendable.
