“WARNING: DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL AT ALL!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2010

When we checked-in we were fooled by how nice the courtyard and the lobby looked but soon as we got to our rooms, we were very disappointed: cockroaches (3 of them) on the bathroom floor! and the room had a stench we could not figure what it was but it was enough for us to decide to cancel our booking and check-out asap. The manager would not refund our booking, good thing we only booked 3 nights! We didn't want to argue and just decided to stay for one night since we were tired. We all agreed we'd just look for a better place to stay the next day. That night we were curious to try out the restaurant below the hotel called, Kusina Selera. We were told that they served good Filipino dishes. We were amazed at how unprofessional the staff were. The waiter made us wait for 20 minutes before getting us a seat, and another 20 to bring us the menu and take our orders, and then, another 45 minutes for the food to be served! I thought, if the food is good, maybe I'll forgive them. We ordered their Balbacua, which tasted like soil!!! And if that isn't bad enough, their Sinigang na Baboy had granulated Tamarind Soup mix on the pork (obviously they do not even know how to make one of the most basic Filipino foods). Everything about this place was BAAAADDD. The restaurant was full of mosquitoes and flies. The kitchen had a foul smell. The bathroom seat was filthy and the floor wet and uncleaned. Yikes! Filthy place. We asked the manager for a refund. She said NO. By this time, we were fed-up with this place Legaspi Suites and Kusina Selera and decided to just leave and vow to NEVER COME BACK HERE! TERRIBLE SERVICE. We are hoteliers and restauranteurs that travel the world for Discovery Travel & Adventures. Goes without saying, both LEGASPI SUITES & KUSINA SELERA get a thumbs down plus a big BOO! from us. Get your act together folks, or just close down.

If you are looking for a quiet and classy yet affordable place to relax in Davao City, I strongly recommend Legaspi Suites. It is strategically located within the heart of the city, easily accessible to public transportation. There is the Kusina Selera Restaurant and Tata Benito's Cafe just right at the gate of the compound. Though the facade gives a touch of antiquity, the rooms' interior are very modern- wood tiles, wooden bed and coffee table, big closet and a flat screen TV. The rooms are spacious and elegant and the bed is just so good to sleep on. The bathroom is clean. I love their homemade menthol soap. For only less than Php 2,000, you'll get a good night sleep and a delicious breakfast for two.

We were bound for a wedding trip to Davao and found ourselves searching for that perfect spot - cheap yet classy. There we found, Legaspi Suites - right at the heart of Davao City. The place is just a few steps away to what you want - fancy restaurants, intimate cafes, salons, party spots, shopping malls, and whathaveyous. The ambience is very vintage, maybe because of the old house right in the middle of the place - which I'm sure you'll like if you're into that old, vintage feel. The rooms are spacious, I love the flat screen TV, by the way. And eat the the best and sumptuous breakfast courtesy of Kusina Selera. Two thumbs up for Legaspi Suites. Sweet suites indeed!

Nice website, they have... but don't be fooled. Dirty bath, spiders and cockroaches are creeping just every corner, very loud and noisy especially at night... you'll hear loud music from nearby clubs, you don't get bottled water at night, instead they'll give you a pitcher of tap water which could trigger amoebic reaction in your stomach. securitywise, also poor, the rooms can be opened through a nearby window. lamp bulbs are busted, internet wifi is not functioning, during the daytime, you'll hear carpenters working (and of course the sounds they make too)... worst... they don't refund if you wish to just cut-off your stay....

Stayed at Legaspi Suites for 5 nights. The rooms was nice, clean and safe. Basically, it's a really good midrange choice if you're in Davao.

There were also a few good restaurants nearby and the spa onsite is really good and cheap.

What really made the stay special was the amazing staff. Always smiling, attentive and incredibly helpful with any queries we may have.

Free wifi-and extra blankets would have been nice, but compared to the prices some other hotels charge it's still a good deal.

All in all, we really recommend this hotel if you're in the area and I would gladly stay there again.
