“The lake that touched your soul”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2012

After we took our breakfast in our hotel, My wife and I strolled around Sampaloc Lake. There's plenty of joggers' bikers and famillies erecting tent around the lake. Even there's many people, the place is still peaceful. Also there's plenty of stall selling BBQ. And to top it up, if good food can touched your soul, eating BBQ early morning beside Sampaloc lake is heavenly

“Strolling Around the Lake”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2012

Sampaloc lake is one of San Pablo's public park. Best time to visit is in the morning and in the afternoon.
Food carts surrounding the area can give you nice varieties. Watch a fisherman go in and out of his boat to check his nets.
Pedicabs (tri-bikes) are for hire to go around the lake.

Crowded and too many vendors! But the lake itself is nice.

“Peaceful Lake with mountain views”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2011

The visitors can get away from the city's noise and take a slow walk around the lake with beautiful view of far away mountains. Locals farm fishes in the lake which kind of affected the overall view of the lake but nothing too serious. There are also houses built around the lake, they are said to be expensive to own.

There is a cafe at the lake which serves a local sweet that looks like a rice dumpling. It is to be eaten with a sweet sauce. It has a distinct fragrance probably caused by the leaves used to wrap it. The cafe is Known as Cafe Lago. It is owned by a local doctor who lives in a house on the hill just above the cafe.

It is nice to have a quiet afternoon walking around the lake, and then have coffee at the cafe with friends. Things are slower here and one can take his time to enjoy his afternoon at the lake.

“One of the seven lakes of San Pablo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2011

There is the tale that the Sampaloc siren captures one person per year.

Believe that or not, the lake is bound to capture one's imagination. Families enjoy their picnics.
Fitness buffs do run or walk around the maybe 3-mile around the lake, then get a massage at one of those massage spots. Lovers often find a special bench to just sit and hold hands. Artists find inspiration from the place and the people. Food connoisseurs often return to a favorite bar or restaurant. Nostalgics just return for the memories.
