A hole-in-the wall Thai restaurant in Kapitolyo, Pasig.
Almost authentic Thai as they seem to project but not so, of course, what with the price you're paying.
We were a party of 2 and ordered tom yum, pork satay and bagoong rice. The tom yum had very tiny shrimps in it and were few viz-a-vis the broth. The satay was not satay at all, except for the peanut sauce. These were not grilled. They were very dry and looked/tasted more of a pan-fried dish sans the oil.
Not bad, again for the price we were paying but since their prices are not also cheap, they could really stand some improvement.
Aside from the food quality, they could improve the cleanliness of the place and the service.
A small cockroach (yes! a small cockroach) came crawling under my plate then went around our table top in the middle of our meal! As I was shrieking that there was a cockroach in our table top and around our food, the guy in the counter (we were seated alongside the counter) seemed unmindful of it (was it short of implying that it's not surprising to find a cockroach?). Another guy came to the rescue to catch the 'uninvited' guest.
Another boo-boo... Our bagoong rice was served without a serving spoon so we had to ask for one. The guy who was wiping the dirt on the other table gladly went to get one for us - straight from his unfinished task of wiping-off the dirt to where the utensils where and automatically handed us the serving spoon & fork. Yes, from the same hands with the spoiled rag. (And yes, the other guy by the counter, seemed oblivious of everything, instead of assisting the other poor guy.) Probably he's the supervisor (?) but then all the more, he should have assisted the other staff.
A quick 'thai' fix for lunch with this scorching summer heat.
We wouldn't mind not going back.
