The hotel has completely forgotten that they should operate as a hotel or equivalent- not a prison-like establishment- security is very tight- but only to guests who looks like locals or filipino- if you are white , korean, rich chinese they don't get the security checks- they get the sweetest greetings and smile from the staff.
The lobby looks cramped- chairs and tables needs dusting- not welcoming.
The corridor smells of insecticide/ pesticide ( probably Baygon) probably because they still have carpets- just like the victorian BNB in london- smelly and dirty- not good for guests with asthma and allergies.
Yu have to pay 504 pesos per day to avail of the internet services- and calls themselves a business hotel
Decors look tired and worn-out- for the price of the room - it expensive- next door hotel Richmond is cheaper and yet more up to date , roomy and clean.
The room i stayed- carpet needs replacing, aircon is incredibly noisy- i didnt get a decent sleep.
There was noworking TV channel for two nights and it was only on the second night that they have come to realise that they need to inform the paying guests that something's wrong with their sky cable reception.
The staff are so insensitive of pinoy guests- we wer waiting to be seated for breakfast but because the restaurant was full- we wer offered the smoking lounge to hav breakfast.
Again- waiters and staff offers the sweetest smiles to foreign guests- not so if you are a local, balikbayan or has pinoy features.
The table i had at breakfast had an empty milk jug- the waiter ( i forgot his name) just stared at me while re-filling milk at a table where 2 foreign couples are having brakfast- i prompted him if i could be served some milk- he reluctantly obliged- of course without the sweetest smile that foreighners get from them.
The breakfast wa ok- apart from a dead mosquito on my bread and some egg shells from the scrambled egg ( it think it happened on a tues am- 25th Jan)
Finally the highlight of my stay was the royal treatment i had when i was checking out.
I phoned the front desk an hour in advance and informed them that i'll be checking out- and i'll be needing assistance with my luggage. Upon arrival at the desk- the lady staff (i think her name was Paula) was attending to me when she was interrupted by a phone call- she took the call without excusing herself- whilst on the phone a chinese guest just appeared out of nowhere and asked her about something- which she happilly responsed and replied - again completely forgotten my existence, made me wait at least for 5 mintues and looking like a stupid man standing in front of the reception l. I spoke to this Paula- and told her that she could have asked me politely to wait and be seated in lounge which i am happy to do- but of course i dont look like a foreigner so she just forgotten me. I told her that it was rude for her to do that to PAYING guests and she could do better.
I think the management should make it clear to locals and balikbayans that their hotel is only for foreigners and not to pinoys.
I have given this Paula my written comments about my stay at Linden- and do hope that she has given it to the management- which i doubt.
Its a shame as this hotel has a fantastic location and it is just a stone throw away from business and leisure establishment and has a decent reputation (if it has one) is ruined by some pinoy-discriminating front desk and security staff.
Whoever is the Manager- its time for you to look around ur hotel, observe ur staff and speak to ur paying guests.
