“Mardi gras!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

A mardi gras feel once inside. Waiters are wearing headress which i saw some customers borrowing for picture taking. Slices of bread and dip is served for starter while order is prepared. The soup we ordered is thick and creamy and i suppose same goes with the others on the menu. Great with baby back ribs and vege salad.

“great taste but super expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

food is fantastic. but one dish costs about 700-800 pesos per order.

doesn't really get you full (which is important as to why people eat in the first place) but to be honest, it is so damn delicious.

“new orleans in manila”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2012

I had a chance to try Cajun chicken before. So, I was really curious what the Gumbo restaurant at the Gateway mall had to offer. I somehow related it with the image of Forest Gump who was from New Orleans. The menu was varied including pasta, pizza, pasta, burgers and barbeque.

But we opted to try 2 dishes: Gumbo and jambalaya to best appreciate the cuisine of New Orleans. Gumbo is a tomato sauce based stew. And Jambalaya is somewhat like paella. The taste of the 2 dishes is good. The serving of the gumbo had very small chunks of Chicken floating in thick sauce with 1 big scoop of rice in the center of the bowl. The seafood jambalaya had flavored rice and pieces of small shrimp, squid and clam shells,

i would have given this restaurant 5 stars if there was more chicken in the gumbo. like real CHICKEN CHUNKS which you can bite and not chicken bits suitable for a 3 year old with incomplete baby teeth. The jambalaya would have been great if more shrimps and real squid rings were added not very very thin squid slices and empty clam shells.

I realize that there is a lot of competition in manila restaurants. the price is reasonable on the menu. But hey, it was a surprise when the food was served.

Restaurant had good decor and well dressed waitresses complete with headgear and beads.
I might come back someday because i like spicy food.

“Great Place to Meet with friends and enjoy food to share”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2011

It's been awhile since I went back to this restaurant. The last time I dined here was several months ago. Didn't enjoy the food much as it was getting saltier and boring.

It was a great opportunity again as I invited my friends and came back here as they were having a promotional discount. It was good to find that they have added a few items on their menu. We tried it and it was good. We also ordered staples such as Fish and Chips, Baby Back Ribs, Pizza, and Pasta. Their seafood lasana which was very salty before, gave a very nice improvement as it is edible and more flavorful. Fish and Chips is now slightly bigger in serving and still delicious, Caesar Salad is crisp.

It's good to see that this restaurant has improved a lot and I would surely be back to try other new dishes and old favourites.
