“Hot spot. Awesome views. It place for 2014.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

Was there last night for the Mega anniversary and it came with high expectations thanks in part to some local celebs who celebrated theirbbdays there recently. And it didn't disappoint. We were ushered into the elevators heading to the top floor which felt like being inside a Chanel bag. It also brought images of the Felix club in Hong Kong with the anticipation to get inside the club. Inspite of the hundreds of wanna bes present we managed to get a table outside and were amazed by the views of the city. And just for that view, the visit was well worth it. Drinks were priced like any it club, 300 for a vodka tonic and the food or snacks served were tasty enough. So yes, Makati has a new go to club where there were lines downstairs of uninvited guests waiting to come in. 71 Gramercy was and is worthy of the hype for now.

“Nice food and a great view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

If you like your food served with a view and you happen to be in Metro Manila, then 71 Gramercy in Makati is definitely worth a try. This restaurant / lounge / bar is situated atop the country's tallest building and has only recently opened. We live just a few floors below it (the building itself is actually a residential place) so don't have issues going there, but if you drive here on, say, a Friday evening, leave plenty of time as it's situated at the corner of Makati avenue and Kalayaan, and both see heavy traffic during rush hour. Also, the place requires registrations, and even as a resident here it's a struggle to get a table as it seems very popular. At least it's easy to find as it's simply the tallest building you see there.

So, last night we went upstairs to try the place for the first time. Wasn't sure what to expect but the result was a very pleasant surprise. The menu and atmosphere seem to be geared towards a fine dining experience, with Chesterfield style leather sofas and things like foie gras as starter on the menu. Rest of the menu is a good mix between meats and other things (sorry, can't remember them all) and we settled on a 62 degree egg as starter, filet mignon and a crispy duck as main, and some cheescake and caramelized banana type thing as desserts. As far as the food goes, I have to say that it was simply excellent. Very tasty, portions just the right size and served by very attentive staff. Nicest I've had in quite some time and we go out a lot around here. The final surprise came when we checked the prices, as the place is a lot cheaper than I thought. I think you can compare it roughly to being a little more than any of the restos in the likes of Green Belt (Italiannis, etc) but with a whole lot nicer food and ambience.

As far as I know, resto hours are 6pm to 10pm and after that they open the lounge/bar area next door, including the rooftop bar which is worth a visit for the view. The bar accepts walk ins, but if you want a table there you have to book again. Especially at the weekend it seems madly popular at the moment - maybe because it's new. The resto itself also has a nice view but make sure you reserve a window table if you want to enjoy it while eating - there only seem to be four tables on the window side and the whole place is quite small. I'm also being told it's quite a celebrity hotspot at the moment, but as I am 100% clueless on who is famous around here (and don't really care either), I guess you have to celeb spot yourself. Some famous dude was on the next table but I already forgot his name. Anyway, the place is nice and worth trying.
