“Excellent Hotel !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

This is one of the best hotels I've experienced so far ! The customer service is just superb. Love their smile.

Also, I've never been to a hotel with gym operates 24 hours. It's great as I can go whenever I'm free without any time restriction!

The hotel is tucked in between of the shopping malls. Therefore, it's so much easier to look for food.

Dear Chl0e_Cheah,

Thank you for your heartwarming feedback. The gym hours are most convenient, especially for guests like you who choose to relax at the gym at any time of day, or night. I’m happy to know that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay, and wish to see you back in the hotel in the future.

Finally got to stay in the Makati Shang. After living in Manila for 2 years, this is a fitting farewell. This is an excellent hotel, I really enjoyed my brief stay here. There are some great bars and restaurants in this well placed hotel. Really enjoyed Sage and the lobby.

Not the first time I stayed here for business and it’s always great pleasure to be back.
Pleasant check in experience as we were brought straight to room with in room check in. Conveniently located in the city, walking distance to Greenbelt mall easy access to eateries and shopping. Awesome performance in Sage bar, band plays great combination of music from 70’s to latest music very well done. I will definitely back the next time around.

When business takes me to Manila I prefer to stay at the Shangri-La Makati due to location and safety. The location is great and many offices can be reached in 20-30 minutes. The hotel it self has a very nice smiling staff who really try to make the stay special. The Horizon Lounge is to crowded and the service during "happy hour" very poor. Rooms comfortable but out dated and need a upgrade. Book a Executive room that is big and with a small sofa lounge space, it is well worth the extra money.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the Breakfast restaurant serves a great breakfast, keeps you charged for the whole day.

Room Tip: Executive Room, best room size and location

Dear xMike,

Thank you for the time to write your comments about your stay with us. The location certainly plays a factor for the hotel, being in the heart of Manila’s business and leisure district. I hope you had the chance to explore around the area, as shopping malls, other dining and entertainment spots are mere minutes away by foot from the hotel.

I’m sorry to hear that you found the staff’s performance during happy hour unsatisfactory. We take guests comments seriously, and this is something that we work on for constant improvement. Good to know that you found your room and the breakfast very satisfactory. As an alternative on your next stay with us, we also serve breakfast in our new restaurant, Sage. I hope to see you back in the hotel in your next travels to Manila.

Sincerely,

Alain Borgers

My previous business trip to Manila had left me with a busy, cluttered, hot and messy feeling. My agent offered to book the hotel and I am still thanking him! The rooms were elegantly decorated, great walk in shower with lots of pressure, Internet was included in room rate - easy to connect and worked well. If you have the chance to use the club floor - go for it! The lounge was relaxing and comfortable, just what you need after a full day of meetings. And had some decent white wine too. There is an ATM in the lobby which was convenient.

Room Tip: All seem good

Dear Always Travelling Juli,

I can imagine how busy you must have been in your recent business trip to this city, and I’m glad you found refuge in the hotel despite your hectic schedule. We aspire for all our guests to feel naturally at home, and have a relaxing stay in the midst of a bustling city such as Manila. Good to know that you spent a great time at the Horizon Club lounge – certainly an ideal place to relax after a hard day’s work with a good drink in hand while drinking in the panoramic views of the business district skyline.

On behalf of the team, I thank you for your kind review and I am happy to know that you had a delightful stay at Makati Shangri-La. We look forward to welcome you again on your next visit.

Sincerely,

Stayed here for a few nights for business in July 2014. The highlights:
- Great staff, very friendly & attentive. Happy to help out with all requests, large or small
- Property is ageing, and rooms feel a little dated. Not a huge issue, but not a modern property
- Small issues (shower drainage, etc), but the staff did their best straight away to fix
- Solid hotel transfer service
- Great location if you want to work or shop in the Makati / Greenbelt district. Otherwise traffic can make it hard to get in and out
- Pool is lovely, quite a large space with good staff
- Lobby food is average, but Sage Bar is modern and good happy hour prices

Overall a good choice for a business hotel.

My fiancee and I stayed one night in lieu of a rainy overnight trip to Tagaytay. We were going to check into an executive corner room on the club floor, but the front desk told us we could get a suite for 3,000 pesos more, which included a 6pm late checkout, so we opted for that. Our front desk person helpfully informed us that during the low season, they offer upgrades at a fraction of what the room would cost during peak season. That's my pro-tip for all you luxury travelers that like to save a little money here and there. Another pro-tip is to stay on the club floor. Free breakfast and dinner, as well as food during high tea from 2-4. Complementary cocktails from 5-7pm, including good single-malt scotch. The club floor usually only costs about 3k more than a non-club floor, and if you're a couple, you'll save money on food during a stay-in vacation. Of course if you plan to eat out, or have food delivered, you'll probably get a better value on a non-club floor.

Room Tip: During the low season, they offer upgrades at a fraction of what the room would cost during peak sea...
