“2nd time, never the last”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2011

For the second time within this year we stayed in ShangriLa hotel in Makati, it is one of the best five stars hotel I have ever stayed in.
Location is perfect, among different malls and shops that deal with all, clothes, electronics, house holds, cosmetics, medicines, restaurants, night clubs, bars etc....as Makati City is the Diamond of Philippines I think the best of Makati is surrounding this hotel ...
Staff ....sooo friendly, helpful and dealing with you professionally.
Room and amenities ...as you expect in five stars hotel, clean, quiet with privacy.
Food ...the breakfast is perfectly selected to cover most tastes and desires.
Thank you Makati Shangri La

It's pretty obvious from all the other reviews that one thing is for sure - we all agree that Makati Shangri-la is a good place to stay! Great location - near all the big malls plus Rustan's supermarket (important when travelling with a baby!), good food - buffet is a must try and great hotel service and hospitality! This is the hotel to stay when in Makati!

The Shangiri-La Makati is a great hotel in the capital of Manila. From time of arrival to departure I can only say ''fantastic''. What a credit to the hotel industry, I only wish others would follow their professional approach to hotel management services. I stayed in a executive room No:1030 which is very large and looks out over the front of the hotel. The room was top quality and very quite for a good nights sleep. The bar and resturants in the hotel are of 5 star quality and can not be faulted. I look forward to my next visit very soon. Well done Makati Shangri-La hotel.

Room Tip: Room 1030 is a great room, very large.

I have been to Shang Makati for a great number of times this year. This particular visit was during the height of Typhoon NESAT hitting Manila. Where can you find a hotel where staff welcome you by calling your name right by you step out of the car door?!

The rooms get better and better. Well appointed and very clean though a smudge of chocolate (small) was not wiped out! Small thing nonetheless!

Friendly staff and anyone can readily accommodate your needs!

Generous in providing FREE Wi-Fi! Though I took some stuff from the Mini Bar, front desk did not bother adding it up my invoice!

Truly Makati's pride. I hope it stays that way!

Free Coke anyone?

Room Tip: Choose the side that faces Ayala Ave. corner Makati Ave. Atleast your view of the traffic can help...

Me and my family stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, Shangrila has always been one of the best hotels in the world...and Makati Shangrila has exceeded our expectations! Friendly and helfpul staff, huge and clean rooms, and it has the best location just across Glorietta and Greenbelt malls. We had the best breakfast at Circle.

I was in Manila on business for 2 days, and was expecting nothing specific from my stay at this hotel. Well, it turned out to be the best one I did in south east Asia this year. The service is impeccable, people actually truly help you, instead of giving you the usual mechanical smile and courtesy welcome. The location is very close to the airport, and the food at the buffet is excellent. I will stay there again.

I stayed here during an extended business trip to Manila. I experienced excellent service in almost all interactions.

The best -- on a par with any other 5 star hotel anywhere else in the world -- friendly, helpful, efficient, speak/understand English clearly
* front desk staff
* transportation staff -- I used their car service every day to/from the office as well as on weekends for outings
* roving customer service staff (identified by their distinctive floor length versions of the standard women's uniform)
* laundry
* room cleaners

I have 1 annoying experience that leads me to lower the review from a 5 to a 4 star. I had breakfast every day in the Circles restaurant. I'm a tea drinker -- it seems that at least some of the staff in the restaurant don't really "get" tea. Examples
* when I requested tea, they would bring a pot of tea and try to immediately pour it into my cup -- each time I stopped them telling that the tea needs to steep for a couple of minutes before it can be poured
* the pots they use are quite large -- holding approx 20 oz of tea. They put in 1 teabag per pot. After I finished one pot I asked for another pot of tea. Several times I found that they had simply refilled the pot with water and not put in a fresh teabag.
* one time they brought me "fresh" teapot with lukewarm water.
In each case I politely explained to the staff that what I wanted was a fresh pot of tea -- with hot water and a new teabag. I managed to get what I wanted each time. The complaint is that a place so committed to excellence should better train their staff in how to properly serve tea.

One other issue is noise:
* the local government seems to constantly repair the streets and sidewalks outside the hotel. This involves jackhammering at all hours of the day and night. A couple of times this disturbed my sleep
* some sort of loud banging occurred one night in a nearby room -- I'm guessing some urgent maintenance must have required this -- this woke me up once.
