“Really enjoyed my stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

I found this small country motel through trip advisor recommendations and as it was not too far from Syracuse where I was attending a car show I decided to give it a try.

A real 50's - 60's style "old school" Motel, exceptionally clean and everything worked, the owner and his wife are great folks and able to give you tips on things to see an do.

Without "going on" as my wife would say I would recommend this facility if you were just passing through or intending to spend a few days in this area, the lovely old towns of Auburn and "Skinny-Atles" close by and worth a visit to see shades of what America was like back in the 60's...I just wish I could have stayed on an extra couple of days.

I have stayed here several times over the last few years while visiting family in the area, and the owners have always treated me like an old friend. This is a vintage roadside motel, so if you expect anything fancy you will be disappointed. The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. And the price is much more reasonable than places in Skaneateleas, which is only a 10 minute drive. This is in the country, though, so you will need to get in the car to find restaurants or shops. But that's also why it's nice and quiet.

I realize this is a low-frills establishment, i.e., no continental breakfast, no little soaps or shampoos in the bathroom, etc. That said, I felt the cost of the room was priced a bit high ($99+) as compared to the other hotel/motel rates outside of the cities of Auburn and Skaneateles. It was more drab and sullen than "retro" or "Americana" as described (compare Motel Miami also in Fingerlakes). The "For Sale" sign out front and dimly lit neon sign didn't make a great impression. Would return, but would try Inn at the Fingerlakes next.

Pros:
-Cleaner than most
-Decent bed
-Cable TV
-Wifi in room
-Air Conditioned
-Helpful service
-Centrally located between Auburn and Skaneateles

Cons:
-Had to air out room due to pungent smell of Lysol
-Small room
-List of "rules" posted on interior wall of room was off-putting
-Shower--don't bother shampooing, not sure if it was lack of pressure or hard water
-Bugs--but maybe this is just common due to the proximity of the Lake

Our vacation through the Fingerlakes brought us to the Sleepy Hollow after passing by much pricier lodgings in Skaneateles. The rooms were very comfortable and the absolute cleanist by far of any motel we have ever stayed at and had all updated ammenities which made things convenient. The management could'nt have been more friendly providing us with information and making us feel right at home.
