“Worth it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

If you plan to stay in Baguio and have a thousand and one things to do in your itinerary, best to stay in Hotel Veniz.

Its cheap, the rooms are okay, and the location is superb! Comes with breakfast too.

hotel veniz is in the center of everything in Baguio! walking distance to the famous session road, burnham park and the public market where you can find all your take home goodies and souvenirs! easily accessible by public transport however traffic is really bad most of the time so better walk. weekend buffet breakfast was average. the highlight of our stay: we were upgraded to deluxe accommodation from a mere standard accommodation. downside of this hotel despite clean room look was the presence of some crawling small roaches/bugs... i hope the admin should do something about it... but overall: it was an ok stay... ;-)

Hotel Veniz has always been our hotel of choice whenever we go to Baguio City. Below is the breakdown of my review:

LOCATION
Hotel Veniz is perfect if you want to be in downtown Baguio city. It's at the foot of Session Road, near Burnham Park and the Baguio Public Market. Right next door is a McDonald's restaurant to satisfy your fast food cravings, and a supermarket for your other necessities. If you're on a tight budget and looking for clothes, the "ukay-ukay" (used clothing) stores are around the corner. The area is not quiet nor is it clean, but if you want to be in the thick of the action, this place is for you. On the other hand, if you want zen relaxation, greenery and the smell of pine, look somewhere else.

THE PARKING AREA
One thing I like about this hotel is you get to have your parking area near Session Road. If you've experienced looking for a parking spot on that road during peak hours, you'll know what I mean. When we got there, there were a lot of available parking slots for us, but I've experienced it before when it was so packed that you have to leave your car keys with the guard. Compared to how I remember it before, the parking area seems to be unkempt. It needs a lot of scrubbing. Also, there's no direct elevator access to the rooms from the parking area. You need to climb a flight of stairs and go down to hotel lobby to get to the hotel's sole elevator.

THE STANDARD ROOM
We got a standard room as usual. It doesn't have real windows, but for the price, I'm fine with it. The room is pretty big. It can comfortably fit two people, but with extra beds, you can stretch it to four. It's also dark, with lights coming only from the entrance, the bedside tables, and the TV area. Our room didn't have a refrigerator but it has cable TV, aircon, and wifi (which can get slow at times).

THE BED
The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were not. They were too firm that we had them exchanged to softer ones. There's also no extra charge if you need more than one pillow.

THE BATHROOM
Bathroom was OK and clean. The shower curtain didn't cover the whole width of the shower area, which was a bit funny. Water pressure was low, but at least they had hot water. You also get the usual bathroom mat, hand towels, bath towels, shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste and cotton swabs. Even if there's a sign that only towels that are placed in the sink will be replaced to conserve water, the overeager housekeeping people replaced all our towels with new ones.

THE BREAKFAST
The breakfast buffet is open from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The first day breakfast was lousy (rice, sautéed hotdogs, smoked fish, and a pork dish), but the second one was OK (tocino, longganisa, rice). I tried the egg station on day one, and had them make me a ham and cheese omelet, but it was too bland that I didn't bother having one made for day two.

THE STAFF
Like before, the staff was really great. They were so helpful and so nice to chat with. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. We had this silly request for old newspapers and tape to cover the mirrors inside the room (a Filipino superstition), and they gladly obliged.

Room Tip: I would get the standard ones without the windows so that it's quieter.

We stayed in a standard room with 2 double beds, clean enough, not too spacious. Their best provision, I'd have to say is a pair of disposable slippers. As trivial as that may sound, I do not want to pack an extra pair for the room and I certainly do not want to use the same pair I use outdoors. It's a good place to stay for the night if you have plans to go out for the most part of the day. The staff was helpful. Burnham Park is right across the street.

Room Tip: Always request for a room away from the road. As in all hotels and resorts, special requests are not...

Every time I go to Baguio City I make it sure that I would certainly stay in Hotel Veniz. Fortunately, this time around I was able to get a single room for my one night stay there. Well, the hotel is fine as ever like the room, room service, food, and all. But the only thing that's bugging me during my stay was some of the guests down the hall were obviously unmindful and nonchalant to the other guests. I can hear them laughing boisterously from their room. They would also occasionally bang their doors, too, and when they walk past my door they're not even trying to lower their speaking voice.

Hope the hotel would sound proof their walls so that other guests would find comfort and relaxation through silence.

Hotel Veniz is centrally located to everything and across the street from the beautiful Burnham Park. My room was on the upper floors with a direct view of the park. I couldn't have asked for any better. The are many small businesses for shopping and eateries located in and around the hotel. All within a few minutes walk. SM Mall is a 10-15 minute walk.

A free breakfast buffet was included with my room. The food variety was reasonable good ranging from hot foods such as scramble eggs and sausages to cold cereals. However, it is more of a Filipino style breakfast.

For the most part, everything was clean and the amentities were well maintained. The rooms are a bit outdated in the decor and furniture though this was not a suprise as many hotels are similiar in the Philippines. The staff was super nice and attentive to my needs. Though they did not have a currency exchance in the hotel, they had an outside vendor exchange my money within 5 MINUTES and they came to me.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the park side.

I visited this hotel on January and were not happy regarding the parking downstairs.
I even gave feedback to the hotel management regarding this issue but they never minded on replying.

I decided to give another shot for this hotel and stayed there for 3 nights.
I gotta say that nothing has changed, parking is still crowded with double/triple parking, too small, not even level so you might have to park your car hanging sideways in 30 degrees angle.. not so nice for the suspension or tires. Then after 9/10PM hotel staff are throwing all the used carbon boxes and other trashes to the parking garage so you have an "AWESOME" and "CLEAN" view of the hotel if you happen to arrive later at night.

Furniture and the rooms are outdated and like the mate before reviewed, this place is not for westerners or any foreigners. Place is probably cool for local budget travellers, but if the budget is not tight, look for something else.

Good things in this hotel are: price, location, morning newspaper
Bad things in this hotel are: everything else
