Location, for me, is very important in Baguio and this is why The Forest Lodge deserves a 4. It's about 5 minutes away from the Victory Liner Bus Terminal and Session Road, you can walk all day or jog to your heart's content inside the camp and join others, too. I just learned that this hotel is The Manor's sister company, and offers rooms almost half the price that of the former's.
Their front desk and room service staff are very accommodating and friendly, even agreed to making the room twice in an overnight stay. For others, they would charge extra.
Eating and shopping is just a stone's throw away. There's the Mile Hi complex where outlet stores, souvenir shops and a few restaurants. There's the Mile Hi Diner, Carlo's Pizza, Brother's Burger and...forgot the other one. There are other commercial areas around the camp, too.
They allow early check-in at 10AM at no extra cost, so thats a good one if your bus arrives early. Oh, and you should try The Forest Lodge's hot chocolate! It's divine!
The room is nice and clean, the bathroom has adequate space for showers. Just watch out for the shower's swinging glass door because it tends to bump into the bathroom's wooden door. They offer extra pillows at no additional cost, as well as bathrobes upon request.
Now, here come the cons: No in-room dining service, very few food options, no business office, no bakery. If you need any of these, you'll have to walk up to The Manor, and if it's raining, you'll have to pay P100 per trip to that hotel. There also isn't a lot to do there. They do have a piano but it's locked and only their pianist can use it. So when it's raining outside, you're pretty much stuck to your room--or you can go around the lobby and try all their couches.
Eat at the restaurant at your own risk. Based on my experience, it was very disappointing. They don't do room service. If you want to eat in your room, you'll have to eat it from a box. When we ordered breakfast there, they didn't serve the complimentary hot chocolate with the meal, not until we ordered one, which we thought was an additional order. It could've gone very well with the langgonisang Baguio. Sayang.
Get the ones on the 5th floor with a view. You can see the mountain range from there, even in a ver...
