“Good value and great stay near Plaza de Armas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

When researching hotels in Trujillo, it was hard to find a good price near the Plaza de Armas. I finally selected Los Conquistadores, at $88 a night. Overall, our stay was great and I would highly recommend his hotel. I always try and get a room with a large bed due to my 6’4 husband. The room had a king sized bed which was quite comfortable with adequate blankets. Our room was very large, almost too large for the amount of furniture in it (bed, night stands, sofa, small table and chair, minibar and flat screen TV.) The room and bathroom were very clean, and the bathroom had nice trendy fixtures. I had no problem with WIFI in the room. There was plenty of hot water. The only complaint I would have about the room was that the carpet was desperately in need of a good cleaning or replacement. The lobby is very nice, modern and trendy with black, red and silver décor. There was a very nice computer room, bar and restaurant, although the bartender was not always available in the bar – I think he also worked in the restaurant. Breakfast was included in the price, and was quite good with eggs, bread, juice and a few other dishes. Tip: if you are getting your laundry done every now and again, try and get your laundry done before you arrive in Trujillo. We spent more on laundry in Trujillo than anywhere else in Peru ($40 US for 7 kilos of laundry w/next day service, at the laundry just around the corner from the hotel.)

A nice place to stay in a city that is also very lovely. You are near the city square with its charming surroundings. The amenities are fine and the building is of quality. You can't miss on this one. Be sure to visit the ruins of the civilizations that precede the Incan, Chan Chan and the Temples of the Sun and Moon nearby as these are of great magnitude and splendor and tell the story of New World peoples who rivaled those of Egypt, Mesopotamia and Greece in their antiquity, buildings and burials that rival that of Tut. Visiting Peru without seeing the Lord of Sipan museum in Chiclayo, Pachacamac, Caral and these sites near Trujillo but only going to Machu Picchu is like reading the period at the end of the sentence and not reading the sentence.

The location is quite nice in a safe area of the city. The carpet was not really clean and the towels had some dirty spots. The breakfast was not good.
Rooms are a bit noisy during all day but it became silent in the night. They started some work at 7 AM.

Los Conquistadores Hotel provided standard accommodations. Three computer terminals in the lobby for internet access. We had an inside room, #404, and it was satisfactorily quiet. The front desk gave us a hair dryer when we requested it. Water was hot, but the shower/tub was moldy. Toiletries consisted of two small bars of soap and two small shampoo packets, just enough, but nothing special. There was a small refrigerator, a dirty sofa, and a little desk. The hotel seems to be doing renovations on the 2nd and 3rd floors, but we heard no noise from the construction while we were there. The location is an easy walk to the main square, several restaurants, and the main markets.
Breakfast was a standard Peru "buffet" with fruits, scrambled eggs, cheese, ham, some toast, juice. The coffee was unbelievably terrible. You could not drink it. Since we were leaving Trujillo well after checkout, we were able to leave our locked bags with the desk during the day.

Room Tip: If you can, determine the status of the renovations. We had a room away from the elevator in the ba...

This hotel is located one black off of the plaza del Armas, in a safe area. Easy check-in,and we were able to upgrade. The room was a good size, with a fridge and flat screen tv. There was also a sofa and a full closet. (room 204). There is some street noise from all the taxis honking outside, but it quiets down as the night goes on. There is a sound of running water that I found slightly annoying. Water pressure is good, but not exceptional.
The people at the front desk are attentive and helpful. For example I was able to print my LAN ticket at the reception.
There is a small lounge area, a bar, and computer room. Wireless works in the computer room and about 10-15 feet from there, but no further.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade!

We were there for 1 night recently....did not experience the noise other reviewers mention. Room was somewhat small but clean & adqeuate....free wi-fi or hotel computers in lobby. Good breakfast included. Location is great...only about 2 minute walk to the main plaza.

very central, close to the plaza de armas, but as well close to the hospital (with a lot of ambulance coming and going at night). Nice rooms, but very lowd if you have your rooms at streets side. Nice breakfast, friendly staff. Hot water.

Room Tip: inside room
