“Incredible views, service and food.... sheer luxury at 12,500 ft.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014

Titilaka was one hotel that was high on our list for our honeymoon in Peru. Being located in the middle of nowhere, on the banks of Lake Titicaca and small in size was very appealing to us.

We arrived during the afternoon and spent the afternoon relaxing after a nice lunch in the restaurant. We had been upgrade from a king room to a sunrise suite which was a lovely surprise. The rooms are incredible and beautifully finished. The bathroom is part of the room separated by a large glass screen which may not suit everyone. We had both a standalone bath and separate shower. Our room was on the second floor and you don't realise the impact altitude has on you until you spend 5 minutes climbing two flights of stairs!

All food, drinks and activities are included in the price and when you arrive you can understand why. It's in the middle of nowhere and it's not a location you would even consider venturing out of to get dinner.

The food is good and they have a set menu with daily specials. However, we were always reminded by staff if there was nothing that we fancied to let them know and they would cook us something we did want.

In the evening the staff set up a little bonfire and serve snacks / hot drinks as the sun is setting. You can then pop around to the other side of the hotel and watch the moon rising. It is an incredible experience.

Unfortunately my wife was very ill the first night and most of the second day with altitude sickness as were a number of other guest. However the staff were excellent and took great care of everyone ensuring they had enough liquids and that when they did want to eat they were eating the correct foods (light broths, etc).

The grounds are fantastic with stunning views looking out over Lake Titicaca and decking around the hotel allowing you to just relax and take in the sun, sights and sounds of the water.

A highly recommended stop on a Peruvian trip and whilst it is expensive it's worth it.

Room Tip: If budget allows go for a sunrise or sunset room,

Titilaka is an incredible experience. Beautiful and luxurious lodging, wonderful food, outstanding staff. The scenery is breathtaking and the chance to experience and observe a completely different culture is unique. They have excellent guides who respond well to your interest in the community and region. Trips to the Uros (floating) Islands and Taquile Island are well done. We spent the whole day on Taquile (it seems not many people do) and it was totally worthwhile - scenery and a visit with a family of weavers that served lunch was great. Equally enjoyable are hikes, bike rides and boating in the surrounding area - you see the people at work on their farms and community. The only challenge is the altitude - go slow at first. But don't rush in and out of here. We saw many people come for just a day or two, and it's worth longer than that. We stayed four nights and enjoyed every minute.

Room Tip: We had a "dawn" room, which was lovely. My one concern was the morning light, but they ha...

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon. It is a gorgeous facility with a fabulous location on the lake far from the hubub of Puno. The all inclusive food and beverages was also quite good--some dishes phenomenal, others average. The rooms are stunning: modern but true to the area with wonderful views. Would certainly recommend to friends.

The one complaint we had was the lack of clarity / consistency between the comprehensive package versus the room and food package. We had thought more activities were included in our rate and felt a bit like second class citizens when told that "if a group with a comprehensive package decides to go to Taquile, then you can join for $50 USD each" etc. This is despite the fact that on all of the brochures about the excursions there is no difference highlighted for different packages. During the bookings, this should be made much clearer and there should be consistent language in the brochures for the excursions.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights and it was great. After a day long Andean Explorer adventure (great fun) we were met at the train station. We had to pay for a later trip with Edgar adventures (not recommended) and the staff took us to the shop and waited with us.

After an hour's drive from Puno we got to the hotel in the dark, it was 19:30 by then. We checked in freshened up and had dinner.

The food was excellent!!! We had never stayed in an all inclusive together, if you ever do, this is the way to go.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner all a la carte and of superb quality.

The staff was very good. We took a tour to Taquille island, which was very good.

I hesitated booking this hotel because of its distance from Puno, floating islands etc. But in reality it is not far and worth the minor additional travel (all covered by the hotel). You feel cocooned and cosseted. The rooms are beautiful. So are the surrounds. And the food is excellent.

Arriving in Puno after a long trip on the Andean Explorer my husband and I were cursing our travel agent for booking a hotel so far out of town and from the floating islands. We mused over the fact that we would have been better somewhere closer. However after spending time in this fabulous hotel we would do it all over again. So what was so good? The location on the edge of the lake, the wall of glass which provided a view of the lake, the beautiful decor, sitting around the outdoor fire wine in hand watching the sunset, good food, comfortable bed and our wonderful guide Julio. Julio was informative and funny, all you could ask for in a guide. The hotel has an agreement with the local community and uses local produce and trains local staff, so as well as a luxury experience you are helping the community.

It is quite a long ways from Puno, but what a place! The check in was so relaxing. Our room was beautiful. Celia was very sweet and made sure we were looked after. Our guide, Adrian, took us on a couple of nice tours. He was very attentive to us. We got room only and did not sign up for the activity package and I think this was fine. We had previously seen Uros and Taquile. So, we took the bike ride and canoe rides which were wonderful. The restaurant was delicious although the Trout was a bit overcooked. Overall, it was a bargain considering all that we got. We stayed 2 nights but I wish we had stayed for one more. There is a lot to do here and you will not be bored. The countryside is beautiful. Sunsets were beautiful. I don't think you have to sign up for the full activity package. Don't be discouraged by the price. When you include food and the included activities, it is a bargain.
