“Worth the effort.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

Despite a rather mediocre 10hr "luxury" train journey on Peru Rail (if you want to travel by rail in Peru try the Hiram Bingham service to Machu Picchu). Then a further hour by road, we arrived at Titilaka at 9pm. We were warmly greeted, advised that we could have dinner in the restaurant up until 10pm, or if weary, full al a carte in our room.

Fabulous location and wonderful gentle staff, with great tours, especially the floating islands. Try and get Adrian the tour guide, lovely guy and very knowledgable.

Room Tip: Dawn room. Looking over the lake, as you can see the sunset from the restaurant, bar or deck. If you...

Spoiled my vacation last minute and extremely poor customer service! Had reserved a room well in advance (4 months) and due to confusion in price was told you can have refund few days before check in. Ms. Olga at sales does not and I mean does not want to budge. Do not care who you are attitude.

We spend 3 nights in this fabulous hotel. Full board, with a lot of activities to do on site. The room was large ( Atardecer), a huge bed, a bath with view on the lake. The dinner room have a full view outside and all others commune areas are very well design. The food is just perfect with an excellent service. As we were on a private tour, our excursions were already plan with our agency but on a free morning we did a bike ride with one guide from the hotel to go on a local market. They also offer others activities who are free. Excellent place to relax or be busy, you choose. Overall an excellent choice on all level.

We visited the Titilaka in June as part of a three week trip culminating in the Inka Trail. This was sheer luxury, prior to the trek. We had booked the all in package and enjoyed several trips to the islands as well as kayaking and walking. The situation on the lake side is delightful and most rooms have views over the lake. We chose a corner suite with sunrise views; large, light and airy with a large bath and walk in shower. The staff could not be faulted and the attention to detail was exceptional. Yet, despite the luxury all around, we immediately felt relaxed and at home.
Paul and Adrian, our guides, were informative and spoke good English. I would recommend the trip to Taquile to visit one of the local communes where we were treated to the local version of elevenses after a beautiful walk.
It was midwinter so the sundowner included blankets but was a great way to watch the sunset and chat with other guests. The food was of high quality eaten in a lovely room with large windows overlooking the lake following pre dinner drinks on the terrace or by the fire. It was lucky we were moving on to the trek as anything else would have been a disappointment after the Titilaka.

Room Tip: Dusk or Dawn rooms well worth the extra premium.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Titilaka provides a memorable experience for those wanting to explore Lake Titicaca. Loved the view of the water no matter where you were in the hotel. The Staff was excellent, friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and clean. The bed was also comfortable.

Many tours are offered around and on the lake, as well as local points of interest. Guides are extremely knowledgeable about the area and make each tour a remarkable journey.

Meals here were very good and we also enjoyed the cocktail hour before dinner. Was nice to meet several other quests during this time.

We happen to stay here during our 20th Annv. When we got back from one of our excursions we found a wonderful and beautiful bouquet of flowers and a bubble bath with candles.

The only negative about this place is that it was a 2 hour drive from the airport.

Titilaka provides a memorable experience for those wanting to explore Lake Titicaca with more than a trip to the Uros Islands. In addition to its isolated setting, the staff, who are eager to met every need, make Titilaka a special place.

Many tours are offered around and on the lake, as well as local points of interest. If there is something you want to do, and it's not listed, ask and they'll make it happen! Guides are extremely knowledgeable about the area and make each tour a remarkable journey.

We were surprised to find the rooms rather small, and the food little more than average. A large bed takes up most of the floor space in the bedroom making navigation a challenge. The lack of space in the bedroom is countered, however, by several common areas in the lodge where guest can enjoy views of the lake, read, or meet and get to know each other.

We don't usually stay at "all inclusive" hotels or resorts as the quality of food usually suffers. At Titilaka one has no choice but to eat at the lodge as nothing else is close. Given the reputation, and price, we expected the dining experience to be exceptional, but found the food to be average as compared to excellent restaurants we enjoyed in other parts of Peru.

The highlight of our stay was enjoying the intense colors in the sky at sunset, sitting beside the bonfire, and drinking a glass of wine. The colors in the sky were magnificent. It doesn't get much better.

A wonderful place to stay. Uros Islands are close, Puno is close but far enough away and set on a beautiful peninsula with outstanding views. Seriously top shelf service and food - make sure you have the sundowners around the fire 1
