“Perfect place for a rest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014 via mobile

Beautiful lush garden, great food and helpful stuff. Lunch served as BBQ in the garden, overlooking the lake. Hammocks and bed chairs available to relax.
I would recommend rooms in the upper floor as they get naturally heated through sunshine during the day. The rooms at the ground floor are a bit dark and cold. Make sure the fire oven is working properly. There is a beautiful private cottage down at the lake. Stuff is very friendly. Simple but fresh and high quality dishes. Good choices incl. eggs and fresh fruits for breakfast. Would go back any time.

“Gem of an Island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

This is the only privately owned island on Lake Titicaca. It is small but has a nice hill with a great view of the lake. It takes about 3.5 hours to reach this island as it is on the eastern side of
the lake. It has a herd of wild alpacas as well as vicunas. There is a wonderful 24 room hotel on the island. Frankly, I don't know how one accesses the island without staying at the hotel. It seems to me that one can't really appreciate this island without staying at the hotel situated on one end of it.

“See alpachas and vicunas grazing close by”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

The walks on the island are wonderful and just long enough for average fitness. We climbed the mountain to see the sunset, saw the animals at very close range, enjoyed canoing around the reeds, and the scenic walks above the beaches. You do need to be ready for the fairly long and steep walk up from the jetty though. Very restful and serene once you have taken in all the activities.

“Floating Islands”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

One of the highlights of our trip. especially talking with the people and buying some of their wares. The islands are simply so different and so unreal, knot to be missed.

“OK for one night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

We made the mistake of staying for three nights. The hotel is really set up for guests who only stay one night, arriving at lunch time and departing at noon the next day. I would have given a better rating if we had done that. The menu for the evening meals was the same each day, we were lucky that a group arrived the second night so they put on a buffet. They did make an effort on our third night when my wife pointed out that, as a vegetarian, she was having trout yet again (this was the only non meat option), and they sent someone to buy some kingfish from the local village. The waiter also stood in as the naturalist and astronomer.
The wildlife on the island is worth seeing, with vicuna, alpaca and one that was a cross between the two. Birdlife was also good.
I tried swimming - but be warned, water is freezing! But worth a short swim just to say I had swum in lake Titicaca.
