“Remote and charming island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

The Taquile island is an interesting experience. Coming from the comercialisation of the Floating islands this is more authentic. Beautiful island trek and scenery gorgeous. Lovely inhabitants going about their business in traditional clothes. Willdlife in the form of birds and butterflies with birdsong the only sound. Good market/shop selling locally produced textiles and knits...some for the tourists but some in natural style.
Take a fast boat as its a fairly long journey! Enjoy!

“Beautiful trekking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

After spending the night on the Amantani Island, I got to Taquile to take a walk crossing the island.
The walk is worth the ride, it's a beautiful landscape, adding to the island the view of Lake Titicaca.
If you are in a group with a guide, and you can have lunch somewhere else other than the "tourist place to eat", you will have the same quality for half price.

“Traditions surviving”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Fascinating to see a society functioning in an isolated environment while maintaining traditions from centuries gone by and very little influence from the world at large. At this altitude the hike to the top was moderately challenging. We ate at a restaurant in the village and the trout was great. A must trip.

“Taquile - Great views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

The island gives you the chance to see how the locals live.Whilst the main square is devoted to tourism ( but on a lowkey scale) the rest of the island just goes on living from day to day. Dont expect history or ruins but there are some delightful views. If someone explains the significance of the colour of the clothes the inhabitants wear it will make yor visit more interesting.
