“Warm welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

Jenny was very friendly and has organised for us in just 1 hour a dedicated trip to the Uros island and the Llachon peninsula (as we wanted to avoid the crowded Amantani Island). Very efficient.
The hostel is well placed in the town : you can go to the main place by foot and it is very quiet.
The bed was very warm and was the biggest we ever had slept in (what is above "king size ?")
The best place in Peru we have met.

First of all, I must say that the owner, Jenny, does a lovely and tremmendous job to give a perfect service to all the guests. She sat down with us to explain the city of Puno to us, telling us where we should go and should not go, where we should eat and what tour we could do the next day. That was really totally sweet of her. She absolutely made up for a lot of stuff that we painfully missed: It was bitterly cold in the whole house (as it is many times in Peru...), our room was dingy, the bed sheets did not actually have a fresh scent, the towels showed some stains and blurs which made it unsure, whether they were washed... The shower was covered in cupper rust, the tiles were all damaged and, what was actually the worst of all, we did not have hot water! Neither in the evening, nor in the morning, as was promised... But at least Jenny prepared some nice hot water bottles for our bed :-).

When you walk in and are greeted with a hug you know you are in the right place...Genny is the perfect person to run a friendly and warm hostel. She and the other staff were all incredibly helpful and tailored their recommendations to our interests. Rooms are comfortable though not spacious, shower nice and hot, and the breakfast was very good. Returning to Kusillo's Posada after a couple nights around the lake was like coming home.

The owner of this hostel was one of the most lovely and friendly people we met in 6 months of travel. We walked in without a reservation which was no problem, our room was perfect with lovely beds, good shower (as far as electric shower heads go), and very clean. The standard breakfast is lovely, or for a tiny amount more you can get a variety cooked breakfasts (pancakes, eggs, etc). Also, the staff were incredibly helpful about booking buses out of Puno, and booking trips in and around the city. Great location to the main plaza and not far from the bus terminal and waterfront.

The room was clean and the shower was hot. Breakfast was more than the normal bread and jam, but it still left much to be desired. I had an e-mail reservation, but no one had a record of it. The front desk staff did not speak English so communication was very difficult. Originally we were to stay three nights but after one we checked out because it was not a good value.

We arrived late at night and tired from Cusco. We did not have a booking but just turned up.

The owner (Jenny i think) was really friendly and welcomed us in. She spoke understandable English which was nice for us. The room was good and had a massive kingsize bed (the first we have encountered on our trip in South America). There were loads of blankets and although the room did not have heating (pretty much standard in Peru and Bolivia) we managed to stay warm.

The owner was also really nice when we arrived and ordered pizza for us as we were too tired and disorientated to go out looking for food. Breakfast was also good and consisted of fresh bread with butter and jam and a choice of eggs (how you wanted) or pancakes. As a plus the omelette had tomato and onion included. This is a simple addition that almost all other hostels forget and really improves the taste. Much recommended!

Jenny is absolutely amazing. She is so friendly and helpful. It really made our time here enjoyable. We had working hot water and lots of warm blankets on the bed for the cold Puno night. Breakfast was delicious and the space was clean. RECOMMEND to anyone traveling to Puno on a budget.
