We stayed twice here in May 2012, the first day and the last day of our jungle visit. We got a private room with ensuite bath. We paid $80 soles (US $32US). They advertised credit cards, but did not take them. (machine broken) Only a cold water tap available. Nice mosquito netting around the bed which had 2 pillows. Pretty basic accomodations, only one light in the room, and we saw a rat above the room, but hey this is the jungle. The staff was helpful and friendly, which included holding some of our belonging so we did not have to carry them into the Amazon basin
This hostel is located as close to the boat landing as you can get, about 7 minute walk. Its one block from Plaza de Armas, which is the main square of each town. A little noisy at night due to a local social club that you can hear the music from. Breakfast was included which was eggs, bread, coffee, tea. We found a great tourguide right across the street at Verde (Green) Tambopata guides by the name of Paul. He was incredible in the 4 days we spent with him at Lake Sandoval. Highly recommend Paul!
FYI, not much to do in PM, but try to get upriver for a few nights. That is much better than using PM as a base and then taking day trips up or down the river. The animals are out during early morning and dusk and later. Day trips are not going to have you there when the animals are there.
