Hello Friends. Just came back from this resort and it was our 4th trip to all inclusive in 2012.

We arrived to Panama on Dec 31st with Nolitours from Toronto along with large group of friends.
Transfer to hotel took an about 2 hours. Our bus arrived to Lobby 1 and here is the moment of truth, when you see the lobby you pretty much understand what you dealing with.
All of us got rooms close to the lobby at building 19. Right upon check in we faced issues like:
A/C didn't work, Room was disgusting and dirty and finally 2 towels for family of 4.
Next morning 7:30 i went to talk with Nolitours rep and demanded to fly us back immediately. Unfortunately they fly to Panama City only once a week and i was offered to fly back to Vancouver.
Anyway lady from Nolitours was very helpful and helped to move us to building 41 with newer rooms.
Food: We didn't eat much, because food is really bad, nothing like Mexico or other countries.
Entertainment: we didn't go for shows.
Overall: All of us (44 people) came to one conclusion, we strongly recommend to avoid this resort if you can.
This resort is not up to North American standards and most of travelers are from Central and Latin America.

To my opinion, the best all-inclusive resort in Panama. Love the water activities both ocean and pool. To me, one of the most important thing of any hotel or resort is cleanliness. Cameron was excellent in this regards. Clean rooms, pools, restaurant, ect. In the service they can improve a little with more help, it seams they were running low on help. I think you can have the best time in this resort if you come in a group, may be friend and family. That what I did and had a blast. What I like least about this experience was having to wait like 2 hours to get to our room and while we were there no complimentary drinks, I mean at least a soda would have suffice!

This is a good all-inclusive option if you are traveling outside Panama City.
The staff was helpful and nice at all times, the facilities were very convenient, and they have many swimming pools around the resort.
Rooms were clean and confortable, I suggest to request pool view.
About the food, it was good, some of the restaurants had better menus than others.
My favorite part was the resort club, it was a small open space hut, with great music & ambience. Sometimes, once a week they offered grill lobster for dinner near the club area.

We stayed at the Royal Decameron for 19 days from Nov. 9-28 and had a good time. The rooms are average, the food is OK and the pools are very nice. We ate and drank at the buffets and a la carte restaurants and always found something good to eat, but it wasn’t spectacular. The beach and resort grounds are probably the most appealing features. Because the ocean is pretty calm along this stretch of coastline it’s fine for wading and swimming but not favorable for wave sports like boogie boarding and surfing. The water is also pretty murky so we didn’t bother to bring snorkel gear. Because of the resort layout, large size, and building locations expect to do quite a bit of walking around. There is a significant elevation difference between the upper lobbies and buildings and the lower beach and buffet restaurants so expect to climb stairs or inclined walkways multiple times during the trip. Fortunately, a shuttle service runs between the upper and lower parts of the resort if you need a ride. A word of caution: during our visit we saw numerous people both young and old having trip-and-fall accidents - some due to inebriation or poor footwear (ie. flip-flops), some due to slippery poolside tiles, but mostly due to lots of uneven steps and other tripping hazards. Be extra careful and wear good footwear during your visit!
Some information that would have been useful to know in advance is that the hotel has internet kiosks ($10 per hour) and wi-fi service in the three lobbies ($) and a beach side fitness center, among other things not listed on the hotel website or in our travel brochure. Getting to the hotel can be a challenge if you don't have a tour package that already includes bus service. We booked round-trip bus transport through the Decameron Explorer company ($48 for 2 people) but had to wait nearly 4 hours in the airport for a delayed flight from Colombia to arrive. Since it was just the 2 of us waiting and a group of about 20 yet to arrive they weren't about to head toward the resort without more paying customers. Once we finally arrived at the resort and checked in around 2:30 am we didn't get all the necessary information in the arrival packet, including towel cards, so we had an additional hassle of signing some forms once we requested beach towels. Make sure to get towel cards when you arrive, and have them with you at check out!
There are numerous excursions offered with the Decameron Explorer company and we chose the City and Canal tour that lasts a full day. A good portion of this tour consists of bus travel to and from Panama City, but the tour guide spent the entire time talking about the history, politics, economics and ecology of Panama so it was very informative. Lunch was extremely tasty at an upscale restaurant and we especially enjoyed the museum and opportunity to watch ships passing through the Miraflores locks. Highly recommended trip! All in all it was a very enjoyable trip and pretty good value for our money considering the cost of other all-inclusive resorts in Panama.
