This was totally the best place to stay on the island. Rooms are clean and comfortable, great beds and good a/c. The thing that makes this place so far above the others is the Staff, everyone who works there is really a wonderful person. It might not have been on the beach but it was a easy walk to a wonderful beach. Food was reasonable and very good. All the best to Marie and staff on their next adventure, the hotel Romantica on the beach.

Room tip: They have King size beds and also rooms with cooking.

I recently went to Isla Contadora (aka Pearl Islands) with my mother for two nights during December 2014. We took the new high speed ferry from Panama City (1hr 20,mins) BTW_ fully air conditioned with a flat screen tv! We were greeted at the ferry "landing" by the owner, Maria Jose, who took us back to the hotel on her golf cart (this is the most popular way to get around in this small island). Before taking us to the hotel, she did give us a small tour, which was helpful to get our bearings. Upon our arrival, we were given fresh mango juice- YUM, while Maria Jose sat down with us and told us the places to visit ( beaches, restaurants)
The inn is small. There are only eight rooms. Ours was on the lower level, with two twin beds, AC, satellite /flat screen tv and bathroom. The room was clean and was recently renovated. It had a charming sea side feel with crisp white sheets and lovely decor. However, the room next to us was occupied by a family with small children, so we could hear everything. Walls are a bit thin and there is a ventilation in the bathroom which faced outside.
Outside in the patio is a small bar with tables where you get breakfast served (included) and there is also a flat screen tv. One of the best aspects of this hotel is that they will drive you to the beach you want (or you can rent your own golf cart) and they will give you chairs, towels and cooler to take with you. You can also pre-order lunch and they will take it to whatever beach you decide to visit that day-service at it's finest! They will then pick you up when you are done with your beach day.
There are a few restaurants on the island, just ask Maria Jose and team and they will not guide you wrong.
I highly recommend this little pearl of an inn at Isla Contadora!

Room tip: I would try to stay on the second floor where it would be a bit quieter ( if noise is an issue for you)

My husband and I picked Perla Real as we prefer smaller establishments and were not disappointed. Rooms are well appointed with an ocean vibe (porcelain painted sinks, wicker chairs, etc) but modern and equipped with AC, fan and satellite TV. The outdoor common area was spacious, clean and comfortable, although the hot tub is not used. Breakfast was large, with a freshly done juice, fruit, and eggs/toast or eggs/pancakes. Everything is made fresh which takes longer but nice. We also had lunch there once with the freshest fries I've ever had (literally made from the potato!). They also give you a cooler, chairs, and towels for the beach which is handy. We rented a mule for one day of our three day stay at $72 (discounted given other rates) which was a nice way to explore the entire island. The inn is located in a residential area about 10 mins walking from two lovely beaches and a 15 min walk from the main strip. Staff was friendly and are also able to drop you off anywhere and also pick you up from the ferry or airport. Did not get a chance to meet the owner. We booked about a month in advance and were glad given this is clearly a popular place. We also appreciated being able to check in earlier given we arrived at 9AM from the flight from Panama City on Thursday. Staff try to accommodate as much as possible, depending on how busy they are. There was a bit of trouble with English at times, but just ask and staff did try to be as helpful as possible. For about $160/night (standard for the island), this was a great place and rate for our mini island getaway while vacationing in Panama.

Room tip: Upstairs room have more privacy as they do not face the outdoor common area

This hotel is a great place to stay on Contadora. We booked our room just ONE night before arrival and I was little bit nervous as it was our first trip to the island and we got no idea what to expect.
Anyway, as soon we got from a boat to a shore we were welcomed by the hotel owner and the rest of our short stay was worry free.
Rooms are nice, atmosphere is great, Pina Colada in the hotel bar is amazing!
I would highly recommend the hotel.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights on November 2014. We booked a standard double room and upon checking-in we were informed that since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, we were upgraded to a Suite. Such a nice gesture! Rooms are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The place is cozy and managed by the owner herself (Maria Jose). It is not on the beach, but a 10 minute walk will take you to Playa Cacique. The Inn provides chairs, umbrellas and a cooler with ice for you to take to the beach, and if you are not in the mood for walking, they take you there and pick you up. Maria Jose, Marcela and Carlos go that extra mile to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. This place is highly recommended. We cannot wait to return.
