“Great location, however fleas a problem!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2010

We stayed at kalima suites after requesting Bouquete Paradise, which was closed for refurbishment.
Location wise, kalima is great. The room has a queen size bed and a single, and a separate living area with cooking facilities, which was handy for breakfasts on the early morning starts.

The bathroom is average, sometimes the shower was great, other times it went hot and cold- very annoying!!!

I got bitten a lot, and my boyfriend a bit. On our 4th night we realised these were flea bites as there were no Mosquitos around, not great for me at all!

The staff are however, very helpful with organising day trips and recommendations.

The place could do with a lick of paint to freshen it up, that and getting rid of fleas! Otherwise I wouldn't recommend- I'm sure one of the many hostels would have been better!!

We got to Boquete without a hotel reservation and after being turned away by a couple of the top places on our list because of no vacancy, and then turning down others for a variety of reasons, we ended up here. The room was fairly mid-range in price, compared to the other places we saw. The rooms were quite big as they came equipped with a living area and kitchenette, which we never used. Seems like the hotel is meant to be more of a longer term accommodation, yet there wasn't very much to do in Boquete, though it's a good jumping off point for a variety of activities.

The room we stayed in had 2 twin beds a set of bunk beds, which meant we opted to share the twin bed, making for a somewhat cramped sleep. It can also get pretty noisy early in the morning if they are working on the river, which they were, even on a Sunday.

Overall, decent option, but if there are certain things you're finicky about, check out the room first. I would definitely throw it into the mix as an option in Boquete, but there are probably better places to stay.

My husband and I shared an apartment with another couple for 2 nights - it was perfect for our needs. The living room was spacious and well-lit with a view of the mountains, and the kitchenette made it comfortable to prepare breakfast and snacks especially for pre-dawn departures before hiking. The hotel is located on the outskirts of town within easy walking distance of supermarkets, restaurants, and other stores. The rooms were clean, shower was good, and the office staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed sitting in the outdoor pavilion after hiking and the hotel was quiet even though there was a festival one night in Boquete. This would be an especially good hotel for a family.

My husband and I were visiting panama during Christmas and booked Kalima Suites for 2 nights. When we got there we were told there wasn't a room ready for us since the maid was sick and since there was no deposit down they were not sure we will arrive. (When we made reservations by the phone we were not asked for a deposit). After talking to a receptionist for a while we agreed to wait while she gets someone to clean the room. When we got to sleep that night we saw that the pillow covers and bed sherts were covered in hair. We asked the receptionist in the morning whether the sheets were changed. She said yes but that they will change them again. Needless to say that at night the hair was still there... And on top of everything, my husband and I are full of flee bites.
Overall: bad experience. Definitly not worth the price!

This hotel is located very near the discos by the bridge, on week ends you will have a problem sleeping.

Couch was so hard that I had to put cardboard under the cushion to keep it from sagging into the metal support rods.

I expected a sunlight panel in the living area as a friend had one in another unit he rented. There was a clear panel on the roof, but there was no corresponding panel below it in the living area, so it was like living in a tunnel, plus the front door didn't open all the way.

Lack of attention to detail is carried on through to their website's english version:

Our reservation at Isla Verde was "lost", so were able to get the last room at the Kalima Suites. Our suite had one bedroom with 2 queen beds and a bunk bed. There was a small kitchen and a living room with a very hard couch and chair.

It was a lot of space for just $40 a night. The people in the office spoke little Spanish, but were very friendly and we had no problems communicating. The office also has the internet for $1/hour.

There is a nice grassy backyard with a couple lounge chairs. The Kalima Suites are located a couple blocks from the center of town and we sound it's location to be ideal.

It wasn't a luxery hotel - rough sheets and towels and not much decoration - but it was very good for the price. We'd stay there again!
