Wow, where can we start? Barry and Jane have created a unique and beautiful place to stay on the hillside above Boquete. Their personal touch is everywhere from the construction of the cabins to the daily banana bread and they are the most welcoming and attentive hosts that you can imagine. The grounds are stunning, filled with an incredible variety of tropical flowers that showcase their passion for gardening. And the views.... From the verandah of our bungalow we had a panoramic view across the valley to Volcan Baru. I can't believe that any hotel in Boquete has a better view. Our bungalow was very comfortably furnished and well equipped with a flat screen TV, coffee grinder and maker (to make a fresh brew with Barry's beans every morning) and citrus juicer (to make fresh OJ with oranges from the garden). Our kitchen was stocked with supplies for breakfast (banana bread, raisin bread and scones) and Barry and Jane's home-cooked meals are not to be missed. We had one of their "date night dinners" delivered to our bungalow (Barry's focaccia bread was to die for). Not only was it delicious, but Jane came over in advance and decorated our table with freshly-picked flowers.
If you are looking for somewhere centrally located (you will need a car, ideally 4wd - as Barry and Jane make clear in their extensive info pack), then this place is not for you. If you're looking for a beautiful, relaxing, personalized experience where the owners welcome you like family then we cannot recommend the Coffee Estate Inn highly enough.

We worked for several weeks to make a reservation. They required a fax or email with credit card information and a signature. We tried to tell them this was not a secure method of doing business and tried to send the information in separate transmissions. When we finally complied with their demands they told us they had no room, and ended their email with Cheers!

Management response from Barry Robbins, owner
(Management representative)
Jul 14, 2009
Yes, a client signature is required on our reservation form. We did offer a secure way to provide us with the necessary credit card information e.g. via telephone at our expense. Yes, we did accept another reservation for January 1st, 2010. The fax from the writer’s girlfriend arrived four days after the deadline for availability. We do our best to be fair and flexible. After 14 emails with both the writer and his girlfriend during the last 4 weeks and 4 days past the most recent deadline, we accepted a reservation from a client who provided the required reservation deposit in a timely manner. After the posting, we received an e-mail from the writer’s girlfriend to thank us for being so kind and understanding and to ask us for our personal travel tips.

Great place to stay & the views of valley, volcano, mountains, and gardens are fantastic! Recommend bungalow "Jewel" if you like balcony sitting and great views. Well furnished bungalow with comfortable couch and chairs, comfortable king bed, & well equipped kitchen (microwave, fridge, coffee, and toaster/oven). Everything kept spotless inside and on grounds. Beautiful location. Jane & Barry very helpful with local information and maps. Freshly prepared gourmet room service dinners if you want. Romero supermarket in Boquete has almost everything (including English "Miami Herald " at cashier nearest milk). Don't let the last 2 miles of poor roads discourage you from visiting. We stayed 6 days in mid-late May. Cool evenings and mornings, hot daytime. A/C not needed. Fresh air great. Clear mornings & rainy afternoons. Probably nicer all day Jan-Apr. Lots of good restaurants in Boquete & great pastries at Shalom bakery. Local people friendly and many speak some English.

I could go on and on about how much I enjoyed my stay at the Coffee Estate Inn...but will try to keep it short :) Jane and Barry do an excellent job of making the guests feel at home and relaxed. The Inn is set away a little bit from the town -- I liked that because it was quiet and private. Barry's tour of the coffee part was neat, and he fresh roasted coffee for us to take back. They made an exquisite meal for us -- the rack of lamb, steamed veggies, Greek potatoes, and lemon souffle pudding were outstanding! Breakfast was Barry's homemade breads, fresh milk and butter, and fresh fruit. The views from the rooms are beautiful! Jane and Barry were helpful at arranging our rental car, zip line tour, and massages. I highly recommend this great B&B!!!

We spent 3 nights at the Coffee Estate Inn in Feb/March and there’s really not much we can add to the glowing reviews below – they’re all true. Jane and Barry are helpful, informative hosts and it’s obvious they care about their guests. We really enjoyed Barry’s tour of the estate and coffee production but the highlight of a stay here has to be breakfast! Every day we were provided with freshly roasted coffee from the estate, oranges and bananas grown on the estate and freshly baked scones and breads for breakfast. Such a great breakfast enjoyed while taking in the amazing views from your bungalow is the perfect way to start the day. The bungalows are well equipped with coffee makers, juices, dishes, microwave, etc., are spacious and have great views of the town and mountains. Highly recommended for a visit to Boquete!
