There’s a part of me that wants to be selfish and not share this review for fear of too many people discovering how wonderful Boquete Garden Inn is and the hotel getting too popular but my conscience got the better of me and I must share this review.
First, let me sum up my opinion of Panama, especially of the residents of Boquete – friendly, hard-working, prideful, welcoming…and Boquete Garden Inn emulates this exact sentiment! Jason, Susan, Danny, and staff have the right attitude and approach of how a hotel should be ran and you immediately feel welcomed and comfortable.
Jason and Susan own the hotel, and for the last four and a half years, they have been intently listening to their guests – constantly making improvements to provide not only an extremely safe, clean, and comfortable place to stay but also provide a tranquil haven where guests can soak up the natural beauty of Boquete. You’re getting the best of both worlds here – the service of a five star hotel but the personable charisma of a B&B Inn.
Boquete Garden Inn consists of 10 rooms but they are more like casitas because you have everything you need in them – small kitchenette, dining area, safe, fans, some even have sofas. And the rooms are beautifully decorated, great lighting and art that hang on the wall whispering relaxation and harmony in your ear from the moment you walk in. Boquete Garden Inn is a must stay when you are visiting Boquete. Here are some additional tips:
1. DO arrange for car service from the hotel, especially if it’s your first time in Boquete. It’s $30 one-way and totally worth it because it helps you get the lay of the land. Going back to the airport, we opted for the car service as well because we had an early flight, and it was nice to just get dropped off curb side at the airport. It was hassle free.
2. DO rent from Abel at Hilary Car Rental if you are planning on doing some exploring. We did it this way rather than renting a car in David because we only wanted to rent a car only for a couple of days and not the entire time we were there. Hilary is about a 30 minute walk from the hotel or a few minutes cab ride, located a little past the Sugar and Spice Bakery.
3. DO participate in social hour. Boquete Garden Inn offers social hour every night from 6-7PM. This is a great time to get to know Jason, Susan, Danny, and Abel but also other fellow travelers to compare notes on what to do or check out.
4. DO get to know Jason, Susan, Danny, and Abel. They all are the salt of the earth, meaning they are extremely good people. Jason and Susan take a genuine interest in their guests and impart their knowledge of Boquete. Danny and Abel are natives to Boquete and have seen the place change before their very eyes. I also commend them for their ability to speak very good English. It is their second language but they communicate extremely well and have the social skills to back it up. They and the other people in Boquete seriously have inspired me to learn to speak Spanish, to try to rival their level of tenacity to get out of their comfort zone and learn something new.
As you can tell, Panama, Boquete, Boquete Garden Inn all had a profound effect on both me and my husband. Perhaps you will feel the same.
