“Continental divide: Great hiking experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Hiking with Chichi was a great experience. We booked the continental divide trip and would recommend it to everyone. The hike is beautiful and the jungle overwhelming. Chichi is a very enthusiastic person and really knowledgeable. He gave us many information about the local fauna and flora.
The hike is a little challenging because it goes up for 4 hour, but don't worry, because Chichi is very caring. He frequently checked if everyone was doing well and advised us to walk a little slower when my mother had a little bit of difficulties of keeping the pace after three hours
If you would like to spot Quetzals on the trail, Chichi told us March-April is the best period, because then it is the breeding season.
One of the best hikes we have experienced so far!

“A private guide, immediately available”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

I was on a three day visit to boquete with two afternoons free. My hotel contacted chichi to see what we could do. He offered different hikes, but cancelled the first because of plenty of rain expected. He was so right! The next day we finally went for an easy walk to the Pipeline Waterfall. Chichi picked me up on time with his Kawasaki light vehicle, an experience in its own right. During the walk, he was enthusiastic about the nature, Boquete, Panama and really entertaining and amusing. The price was really Ok, taking into account that i was alone and it was Sunday.

“Chichi is the best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012

We took a cloud forest hike with Chichi and loved it. At the last minute we added 2 more adults and a child and he led our group of 7 on a wonderful 'secret' tour to a lookout high over Boquete. He was fantastic with the kids, showing them all the little things and taking the time to describe their function in the forest. We got to see a lot of very interesting things and the views were spectacular.

Highly recommend using Chichi!

“What a wonderful experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2012

I went on a hike for about 4 hours in the campain near Boquete in Panama with my guide, "Chichi" who is absolutely charming, very helpful and resourceful and who speaks english very well. We first had a nice car ride to the trail, which is hidden on the side of a small country road roaming between farm lands and tropical luxuriant forest along the river called Rio Caldera. You can count on Chichi to talk to you about the traditons and the changes that has occurred since his grandfather was born there almost a hundred years ago. :)

The trail itself is easy with few obstacles to get over, no mud apart from a very short spot at the beginning. We are walking slowly, trying not to frighten the numerous birds hidden into the canopy that are enchanting our ears with their beautiful songs. We are hoping to see a quetzel, those are extremely nicely colorful birds, but very shy and easily scared. My guide ears them in the first few minutes but says he never had the chance to see them here. We will be lucky and see 2 young ones hangning on the same branche, close enough for me to see the details of their magnifcent feathers and take pictures. That was a magical moment I will never forget. A bit further, I almost walked over the bright yellow flowers of an orchid that had fallen in the middle of the trail! :)

A short time after unfortunately the rain started and it became harder to hear the birds. There is a wonderful point of view at the rocky tip of the trail, open to a 360 degrees view on the valley above, the volcano Baru and the mountains but the clouds and the rain prevents me from taking good pictures and see the volcano. Nonetheless, on the return, my guide stopped many times to other points of view along the road as the sky has clearered to allow me to take pictures of Boquete and the volcan Baru.

You will be delighted by the country side and the luxuriant forest filled with birds, orchids and bromelias. The temperature is perfect over there as it's higher in the mountains with a gentle breeze so remember to bring your binoculars, camera, a raincoat, hiking shoes and a light sweather. There was no annoying insects even with the rain. After the hike, you can ask Chichi to leave you in the center of Boquete near the bus station to visit that small town of 5000 people. :)

It has been a great experience and a wonderful hike even in the rain that I can recommand to everyone who loves nature. Tank you Chichi! :D Thanks also to Anya, who has been very kind, accomodating and helpful.:D Contact Anya or Chichi and ask for a personal guide or for a group excursion, they will do their best to suit your needs at a very competitive price. Definitely worth it! :)
