Stayed in the Pearl Continental for a day and night in late May. The hotel is located in a silent and peacful neighborhood with a walking distance from the Pindi's market place.
The external look of the building is a bit old, while the interior design has been renovated and looks good enough. A large area at center of lobby is taken for Reception desk, so there is not enough space for visitors to waste their time.
Not to forget that the security is the most important issue in Pakistani hotels these days for foreign visitors. This hotel benefits from a mid-level security measures but not the highest, as provided by Serena Hotel of Islamabad.
In Pearl Continental hotel, security gaps were observed during my stay. One example was entrance of a big private truck (possibly known to the guards as a regular supplier!) to the hotel area without a proper checking (it was capable of carrying a huge amount of explosives! actually). Perhaps current peaceful conditions in RawalPindi has made everyone to take that easy.
The rooms however are quite comfortable and spacious. A 40" LCD TV was provided to my room plus an electronic control panel for lighting and out-door signing. Bathroom was equipped with a relatively old stuff, clean but not good enough where the interior services needed repair and troubleshooting.
This hotel does not have a spacious lobby to stay at, instead you can realx at one of the surrounding cafe-terias with of course charges to sit.
We had our lunch in "Taipan", the Taiwanese restaurant and a dinner in "Bukhara" the Asian restaurant, both of which were acceptable in terms of food quiality and services. Dinner is served in wide veriety of pakistani cuisine with live music performed in a convenient ambience.
Staff in this hotel are descent and respecting and guest services are quickly provided.
Facilities are adequate for a comfortable stay and by a reasonable rate, this hotel gets Ok for a short-mid length vacation in Pindi. Bottom line, that could be a good FOUR star hotel but not five.
