“GOOD AND NOT SO GOOD...!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2011

Firstly, do not opt for their Airport transfers....it is absolutely lowsy...rooms are average. The receptionists are so afraid of anyone approaching them. The Hotel is bang next to the airport and centrally located. It has only one restaurant with two employees there. This hotel is okay for a stopover. Cannot recommend it for more than 2 days.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms that face the main road...

Stayed for two nights.
Not the typical 4 star hotel, more of an Arabic touch, (eg, tiles on the walls)
The carpet in the room was smelly, got it removed. Spacious rooms.
Staff at the reception & room service /restaurant were good, never got a response from house keeping.
Great location.
Breakfast was good, never had anything else from the hotel.

Haffa House i can say is an ideal place for couples like us who are not looking for to much of crowds or noise. This hotel is a minutes drive from the hotel, the location is apt as it allowed us to move into the tourist hot spots easily. Gina loved the rooms were spacious and the room service was prompt. I liked the fact that they have a medical clinic and an on call doctor. The food was ok. Privacy and lack of disturbances was a good factor. there we a couple of banks in the building and most of all the Oman air office was in the building so we re booked our flights as we loved salalah. Our plan was a 5day trip we extended it for a week .

Room Tip: the double room is what we stayed in

This is the 3rd time we am visiting the hotel and previously i was just ok with it ... the only up side last time was that they were prompt and well mannered. This visit i was totally surprised as they did a good amount of renovation and now the rooms are better, like before their staff were well mannered and prompt. breakfast was good i think they have renovated the chef as well.
the hotel is a 1 min drive from the airport, all the markets and the tourist spots are a comfortable drive from the hotel.. they have now a MAX outlet right under the building ...so got some Tees from there ...
the prices in the hotel are good for the location and accommodation

This is a several-story high hotel about a one-minute taxi drive from the airport. The staff were extremely nice and accomodating, my single room was large and spotless, and the breakfast was large and perfectly good. The halls as well as my room had marble floors, and the furnishings on the different levels of the hotel gave it great character and ambiance. I felt perfectly comfortable and happy at the Haffa House and would stay there again.

Positives: the room was just about adequate.
Negatives: there was a tramp asleep outside our bedroom door.
Worst point - quite simply the worst breakfast I have ever had in any hotel anywhere in the world. It included, at no extra cost, sour milk, stale bread, dirt, flies, unhelpful staff and cheap orange squash in lieu of juice, and it added up to a barrel of laughs. Don't try taking it up with the staff, though. They will lose their ability to do anything but present a blank stare whilst taking your money. In summary, there's nothing wrong with the place that demolition wouldn't solve.

I decided to overnight at the Haffa to get a glimpse of the good old fashioned Middle East the way travellers in days of yore might have experienced it. It's the type of hotel where the bed is very comfortable, but when you get in the shower, you wonder if the water will work. It did, though, and the rest is history. The hotel is situated close to the airport, as well as to the main town, but shopping here is more of a curiosity than a genuine proposition. However, it's well worth conversing with the locals who are friendly. The sea is dramatic and the port and free zone are coming along well. Next time, I will try to visit during the "kharif" or "monsoon" season, when everything turns green. Don't expect 5 star comfort at the Haffa, but do give it a try if you want to sample an earlier generational experience!
