“Fjords and Khasab”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

I agree with other reviewers the Fjords are incredible and well worth the day trip on a dhow. We only had 4 people on a massive dhow and for 20 Rials for a day trip with lunch included it was a bargain. Saw dolphins several times and went snorkelling. The Dhow owners however should have permanent buoys at Telegraph island as it is tragic to see the damage the anchors are doing to the small amount of coral at the site.
Just a word or warning apart from the Dhow trip ( all the dhows go to the same place) there is nothing else to do in Khasab unless to want to do a 4WD mountain trip which we couldn't due to a small amount of rain. We had 3 nights but 2 would have been plenty. The Khasab hotel was fine but fairly basic and their showers could do with a clean. there are no taxis in Khasab which meant asking the hotels driver to take and collect us each night to the Golden tulip hotel which is the only place with a bar and a bit of atmosphere/view.

“amazing colours of rocks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

take a dhow and sail through the fjords, the rock formations and the colours as the sun rises change, and the little fishing villages hugging the edge of the sheer cliffs one cannot believe that their is life there with all the mod cons of electricity, aircon etc. No roads so shopping for the housewife is done by local boats to the nearest souk.

“One of the best spots in the Gulf”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

Definitely worth a trip, by car if possible, from the UAE. the road leading to Khasab has some dramatic images for you. the fjords, a little hard to find, you need a map or a GPS, are amazing. the views of the mountains and the sea, and, if you are lucky, you will meet some local fishermen. Just relax and enjoy. there is not much to do besides admiring the wild nature there.
