“WORST PLACE IN ASTORIA!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

This place is one of the most pretentious and rude places I have ever been to. I am a Queens native and have been to many restaurants in Astoria, all of which have provided a level of service and quality that Cavo cannot possibly live up to because simply put - THEY FORGOT THE LITTLE PEOPLE - the customers! The manager of the place rides on a high horse and makes a grand pretense of being accommodating when in reality he does not care if you come or go. Not to mention the fact that a sexual harassment suit was just filed against him -( http://ny.eater.com/archives/2012/05/rrated_sexual_harrassment_report_filed_against_cavo.php ). Upon arrival, the hostesses were extremely sour and rude. They were not gracious and refused to seat us just because one person in our party was running late. Our reservation was not honored and we were given a booth that was smaller than ones found in McDonalds, all without apology and no sense of obligation on their part to keep their customers happy. We left and EASILY found a local place with amazing Greek food and the most hospitable and welcoming staff. Practically any restaurant in Astoria will provide you with better service and better food for your money. This place is a dump that uses "ambience" to suck you in. Don't give them your time or business. They don't care if you exist or not.

“Run! Don't walk to this restaurant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2012

This was the first time my wife and I went to this restaurant and it was incredibe. The food was superb and the service was absolutely excellent. The restaurant has free valet service and, when you enter the restaurant itself the several rooms are very dramatic.
Our waiter, Seth, was extremely friendly and well versed on all the items on the menu. It was unbelievable but, when the manager, Barry, found out that it was our first time to the restaurant he brought the chef, the famous Rory O'Farrell, to our table. We were treated like royalty.
Go to this restaurant!! If you have any problems or questions just ask for Barry and all is well. Thank you Barry and your staff for a wonderful experience

“Great Night Out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012 via mobile

I went out for my friends birthday. It was a great time. I arrived here later than the food serving time. I came for nightlife. We all had a blast!

“Dont go for Lady's night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

I would have given this place four stars but I went there with my sisters for Ladies Night the staff kept hounding us to buy more drinks. Other than that it was okay. Food was good but the special they run for ladies night gives the smallest portions I’ve ever seen and charges Manhattan prices for a simple mixed drink. We ended up spending over $150 and our entrée and dessert were supposed to be free. The special ain’t so special. Go for a regular dinner at least you will be full when you leave.

“Best Greek in Astoria?????”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2012

I don't think so.
Wine we ordered was out of stock and one in our party ordered a martini with NO vermouth. The martini was HALF vermouth. They did correct it but not w/o denying there was vermouth in it.
First of all there wasn't anything too Greek on the menu. Appetizers were better than the entrees (Grilled Octopus, Calamari, and flatbread was all good, the mussels were supposed to be in a white wine sauce but came in a tomato sauce). For entrees, we had diver scallops which tasted leftover (not freshly pan seared). The short ribs were dry. The seafood pasta dish was very good.
Desserts were all just OK.
All in all, a bit of a disappointment and very overpriced.
