The secret garden is a very nice place, very beautiful and relaxing, but it is too rigid with the rules. For example, we arrived at 13.00 am and nobody attended us and there was a paper in the door telling that it was not possible to do the check in until two. I think that this is not very hospitable, because although the room could be not prepare, we would have liked to leave our luggage or our car in the parking. During the breakfast you cannot sit where you want, you have to sit where the owner say with the people that she likes and, well, I would have liked to have more intimacy.
And well, some things like that...
Besides, we had very cold at night in the room!
Nice place but we didn't feel very comfortable there.

There is an engraved notice on the door that reception is closed between 13h00 and 14h00. This is because the staff go off duty and management takes a lunch break.
The breakfast accommodation is organised in a way to suite most guests, it is impossible to seat all guests at their own table. Guests are always introduced to other guests sharing the same table.
Your visit was during winter , there are heaters in the room and plenty of extra blankets.

Great spot to spend a few days! Not really sure what others are complaining about! Best wifi of our trip to Africa! Excellent location, great breakfast, secure parking, clean rooms, hot water, great laundry service. Not much more that we could ask for.

The accommodation is good value for money, but is the owner a grumpy unfriendly man. When I parked my car in their parking lot, he didn't even look up, let alone greet me. It is hardly believable that this man is in the tourism business. His wife is very friendly though. Breakfast is very nice.

First thing to say is that it is very good value, in a very central location, with free secure parking on site. The garden setting and pizzeria are both very pleasant, and the breakfasts good. The rooms were spacious and clean.
However, there is room for improvement. Most staff were friendly but we found the owner quite abrupt, to the point of rudeness. The room smelt a bit damp (hardly surprising given the god-awful weather) and the towels needed a good boil (smelled very unpleasant once they got damp). We also ended up booked onto an expensive tour which did not go /do what we wanted - to be fair, i think this was a misunderstanding, but just a word of caution to make sure you check your tour itinerary carefully before signing up.

Tranquil atmosphere, however staff ( owner/ manager) was not friendly or helpfull at all! I stayed there for 2 days, and even though the location is central parking is a hassle. I would not pay this amount of money to stay here again. There's much nicer places with friendlier staff in Swakopmund. It was a real disappointment, especially being Namibian myself, and priding ourselves on warm hospitality and friendliness .

Stayed her with the wife on a spur of the moment trip to Namibia. This turned out to be one of our highlight throughout the five day trip. We stayed in the cottage in the garden. Small, but extremely comfortable and very unique. It is very clean, comfortable and safe. Owners are super friendly and helpful. Oreo (their dog) was a pleasant companion at breakfast time and made us smile every morning.

The guesthouse is very conveniently located in Swakopmund and a very close walk to the pier and some pubs and restaurants. Definitely planning a trip back.
