My wife and I traveled throughout southern Africa for our honeymoon in August/Sept of 2012, and after roughing it in the desserts of Namibia, we were thrilled to find a pleasant oasis in Meike's Guesthouse. As other reviews have stated, Meike (pronounced my-cah) and her husband, Klaus, are fantastic hosts. They called around and made dinner reservations for us both nights that we stayed in Swakopmund and were really just a pleasure to talk to about the history and current state of Namibia.
They've also taken it upon themselves to be as "green" as possible, and have won awards from the Namibian tourism agency for doing so. They've changed many of their lights to LEDs, installed solar water heating and energy efficient appliances, and many other upgrades. Ask them about it, and they can give you all the details.
My wife and I were the sole Americans in the Guesthouse during our stay - most of the customers are German. But both Meike and Klaus speak fluent English, as do most of the German guests, so I highly recommend my fellow Americans start making their reservations now!
Parking and the Guesthouse in general are very safe and secure. All cars are parked within the walls of the Guesthouse and there's a guard posted all night.
One last thing - the breakfasts are great! Multiple breads and excellent jams, hard/soft-boiled eggs, granolas, yogurts, juices, teas and coffee. After a spread like theirs, you really only need a snack for lunch to get you through the day before dinner.
The whole Guesthouse is in a quiet part of town, so you shouldn't have any problems.
