“Welcoming riad in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

There are many riads to choose from in Essaouira, many of which have similar sized rooms and similarly decorated. Dar Afram is in a great location close to the shopping streets, the ramparts which are a great place to sit and take in the sea air, the port and a large plaza with cafes. The staff are very friendly and the terrace has a nice sea view. The riad is also quite light which I liked as some riads can be very gloomy. You can eat dinner in and play music too if you like, the place has a nice relaxed vibe. Very clean and tidy, good breakfast.

We had been in Imlil for a few days and wanted somewhere a bit livelier.

As soon as you arrive you are made welcome by everyone and anyone that happens to be staying at the time. I think that the owners must make everyone feel friendly?

A simple but nice breakfast served on the roof terrace on the morning, music drifts around the riad on and off all day and in the evening a meal is served downstairs where you can chat with other guests if you feel like it. I had my first alcoholic drink in Morocco here, it was nice.

Overall just very relaxed place to stay with some atmosphere if you want it. Just what we wanted.

we r from Sydney Australia We've stayed in Dar Afram for 3 days. It was a great experience We had a great time. The atmosphere is very different than any Riad in Morocco. The food was very reasonable and very tasty. The host Taza has very pleasant. and cool personality. We were very sorry to leave. We strongly recommend Dar Afram riad to any traveller from all over the world.

Room Tip: The room upstairs is the best of all very quiet and peas full.

We had a wonderful stay at Dar Afram. The rooms are lovely and clean, the Riad is located centrally in the Medina. You will enjoy the great savory breakfast. I really recommend to try the optionally available dinner with every delight you can imagine. If you are interested you could even learn how to prepare such a nice menue. And of course, HIGHLIGHT: The Dar Afram is known to host musicians from all over the world. So you won't be surprised to find yourself in the one or other jam session in the evenings. Staff is ablsolutely friendly and ready to help whenever needed.

Absolutely top notch!!
I was planning to stay in Essaouira for a few days, and initially booked another Riad online for the first couple of nights.
I met Taz and Abdul at the local tea house, and asked them for pointers in the town.
Fortunately they pointed me to their wonderful Dar Afram. I visited them that evening and was treated to a fabulous show of live music, entertaining chat and a delicious home cooked meal.
I decided to move in the next day, and ended up staying for the best part of 3 weeks.
Abdul and Taz made me feel right at home, and almost one of the family.
I cant wait to return for another few weeks of R&R, creative vibes and fantastic live music every evening!!
One of the best places I've EVER stayed, and I am very well traveled.

We got off the bus in Essaouira having no place to stay. Luckily for us Taz from Riad Dar Afram was there to save the day and brought us to his beautiful Riad. We stayed there for four days soaking up the sun on the roof top gazing out at the sea view. The rooms are tastefully furnished and very clean. The decor throughout the riad is really lovely. The food was great, fresh and nutritious and the company fantastic. Every night the guitar came out and the singing went on into the small hours. If you want a home from home with two wonderful hosts Taz and Abe don't miss the Dar Afram experience. Thanks guys :)
