“Quiet quirky and enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

This riad is tucked away in the east side of the Medina, near the City wall at Borj Moulay Mohammed, so convenient if you come by car and also a short walk from the Supratours bus stop.

It's hard to find but very much worthwhile as they are extremely welcoming and friendly. Best to phone when you arrive, or buy a city map. Not expensive - we paid 63 euros for a double room with shower for 2 nights.

The water pressure is poor - they do have a pump but the showers are hot even if more of a trickle than a torrent! Beds a bit hard. Heaters in every room. Breakfast generous, coffee weak (unless you like Americano).

Beautifully decorated throughout with some really quirky sculptures and paintings.

Room Tip: No fitness centre or pool hence low rating for those but otherwise it's very good.

We booked this this through Booking.com and paid a total of £90 for 2 people for 4 nights with breakfast, in Sept 2012. Staff friendly room very clean with a shower and toilet. A wee bit noisy through the day due to room overlooking small street/alley but no problem at night. About a 10/15min walk to Harbour/beach. Tucked away in the medina but not too hard to find your way around.

We got a little confused finding this place - it's quite tucked away - but once we did, it couldn't have been nicer. The staff were really friendly and made us tea straight away, they also helped us arrange to have henna tattoos at a nearby salon, and to go for camel rides on the beach.
The rooms were beautiful, and we had our own bathroom which we hadn't expected. Just everything about the place was lovely.

We stayed 2 nights at the end of December and loved everyminute of it. The riad has a lot of atmosphere with local furniture and decoration, the staff was friendly, breakfast was excellent and location fantastic. Maybe even too much !!! in the sense that it is not easy to find it the first time. It is right in the center of the Medina in a quite and little road. I suggest to park just outside the Wall ( on the big square, opposite the seaside ) and call the Riad. Or from the square/parking : facing Bab ( porta ) Marrakech, 200 mtrs on your right there is a smaller Bab ( porta ) only for pedestrians or bikes. Enter it and turn immediately left, walk along the wall and first small alley on right. Keep going until you find it.
Inshallah !!!

This was the nicest place we stayed in Morocco. Beautiful rooms, traditionally decorated. Great breakfast. Easy to get to from your car, because it is close to the back wall of the medina. But it is a bit of a walk to get to the beach, but really worth it! Loved it, loved it!

This is a riad hidden away in the walls of the medina. The service from the local staff was excellent however the owners were showing around buyers for the riad and were not hospitable as they should have been. This didn't mirror their marketing detail. The riad is in a tight alley within labrynthine network of other alleyways. Somewhat threatening and noisy, especially due to the gangs of locals and loud hammering of building works right next to the riad. Room was unusual with old traditional doors with bolt and padlock set-up? Heater provided in the room. Usual minimal hot water and hitting musty smells (certainly la maison du vent) from the adjoining bathroom/toilet although did have a B-Day. Not as eco, green and sustainable as made out to be in the marketing detail. Would have expected to have paid half the price for this experience. Didn't have best feeling here. The rooms all had Santa Claus teddies on each door though...lovely touch?

Spent two wonderful nights at La Maison Du Vent in Essaouira. The rooms are charming, the breakfast is delicious (and fresh) and the ladies who run the place are so sweet. The view from the roof top is spectacular - spend time up there and enjoy soak it in!
Bring your ear plugs though, the kids outside at night can be a bit noisy.
