5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2010

I spent 5 days at the casa Lila at the beginning of september ; This Riad is adorable with very orginal decorations, the room on the roof top terrace is very comfortable, as its beautifully decorated, very spacey and is extremely clean and well kept.
The breakfast was served very generously and was delicous, we enjoyed this magical moment on the roof topped terrace over looking the Medina.
In the evening the patio was lighten by candles inhancing the mystical atmosphere, where one could imagine oneself in a fairy story………..
We highly recommend this Riad, with its excellent staff and very caring owners……..

Although our room matched the wonderfully colourful description expected this was soon dimmed by the most uncomforatble bed, poor lighting and knowledge of yoga needed to negotiate the loo!

The staff tried to be helpful, but generally stayed out of our way; language could have been a barrier. The owner introduced himself twice to us, therefore we did not register with him at all despite the lack of guests.

A bottle of water would have been appreciated more than rose petals on the bed and sink.

After reading the reviews we were expecting the riad to be beautiful but didn't have as high hopes for the service as reviews seems to be mixed. However, we couldn't have chosen a better place on every level. The proprieters were friendly and informative and all of the staff were lovely, especially the young man at reception who couldn't be more friendly and helpful.
All in all we found this place to be a dream in a place in a very different culture - an oasis of calm and beauty. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. In fact my Mum and her 5 friends plan to stay there in March as I couldn't imagine there to be anywhere better.

Casa Lila's decor and ambience is quite expectional, and so are the prices, but this seemed to apply everywhere we went. Having arrived in town for a 5 day break in the middle of the wettest two weeks since May...two days in this riad was just what we needed. Due to the time of year we got a cheaper than usual rate for the room (although it was still one of the smaller ones) and it was very quiet and chilled. The bed was comfortable, no scrimping on quality, crisp cotton sheets here. Little birds fly around at breakfast, which is otherwise a slightly odd experience with an apparently useless bowl and no cup for your coffee. Delicious scrambled egg and fresh orange juice makes up for the oddity. In a nutshell, eccentric and exceptional, but not an authentic 'Moroccan' experience.

We can only agree with all the fantastic reviews of this place. An interior decorator's dream, this riad also has very attentive, friendly staff. We stayed for over a week, and every morning our room was freshly made up, with rose petals strewn over the bed. Go there!

We paid about 900dhr per night for a double room at this beautifully designed Riad close to the Bab Marrakesh gate in Essaouira's Medina. The location is fantastic, since it's less than five mintues walk from the Supratours bus station and is sited right where the action is in the bustling Medina.
The staff are really friendly, the rooms beautifully designed, clean and quiet and, although you can get drinks in the Riad, there's also a nice restaurant/bar across the street for a pre-dinner cocktail.
Recommend!

We nicknamed it the purple palace, most things if they could be had been painted purple. We had the rose room which was very nice with an amazingly large fire place and bath in the middle of the room. The rooms were very pretty, but didn't seem very private as noise easily moved around the riad. The roof terrace has steep steps up to it but worth the climb as it is very pretty and beautiful up there.
The service was a little off, every morning we had to go to the front desk and tell them that we were ready for breakfast but there were some very nice touches with a rose on the pillow when we arrived.
A great central location that you can easily explore the medina, get to the harbour and the beach.
