“No air Con....No Fan....No thank you”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

stayed 4 nights...staff were great ..polite and helpfull...breakfast ok and hotel was clean...

we arrived to temperatures of 28c and 20c in the evening. Average temperatures can regulary reach 30c plus in this location. How can you operate a Hotel with those temperatures and not at least install ceiling fans in each room....If you opened your windows overlooking the courtyard..you would be interrupted with the music being played from the bar until 11.30 pm...guests returning until past midnight...and then guests checking out from 6.00am and hotel staff preparing breaskfast from 7.00am....
NOTE TO THE OWNERS.....
You have a great Riad, you have great staff ...you must install ceiling fans as a minimum or even better air con..and then you have the complete package..
I look forward to staying with you when this is done....

From a traveler working overseas and has stayed in some of the best...
This boutique hotel has impressive English speaking staff who were very accommodating - the best team I've seen in this country. The hotel certainly has the luxurious decor and feel when you step into its entrance - until I got into the room. The room had a smell of something - could not put my finger on what it is but it was unpleasant. Still, thought it looked nice - decided to overlook the smell. Tiny room but bed had rose petals on it. Nice touch. The bed - is a wooden box with a thin layer of cushion. It creaked when one turned and it was totally painful to sleep on it. Room has no AC or heat but weather was cool. This means keeping windows open in a dorm-like layout. Courtyard in the center, while lovely, amplified any sound especially at night. True enough, noises woke me up throughout the night from other late night guests talking right outside our window (hotel was not full), the staff downstairs talking, bells chiming softly throughout the night, phone ringing at the reception, seagulls screeching/squawking. Worse, towards early morning, mosquitoes were buzzing around my ears.
Breakfast at the top of the hotel was an open air patio. Nice setting. The offerings were not great - whole fruits, quartered dry pita bread offered with butter, jam, local argan almond spread and coffee.
Overall, the worst stay ever in a hotel anywhere in the world.

Room Tip: Top Floor is best - away from noise in the courtyard but no guarantee of peace from the noisy seagul...

We spent 3 nights here in room 11, after being given a complimentary upgrade. We arrived by Supra Tours bus and thought it was further from the station then it actually is, so after paying a luggage porter to walk around the corner we found it was literally at the very entrance of the medina. The entrance to the riad is gorgeous (with a welcoming cat at the door), the reception staff were friendly and helpful throughout the duration of the stay, and we were welcomed with mint tea on arrival whilst completed the formalities. The room was very spacious with an outstanding walk in shower (the best we had on the whole holiday), the bed was absolutely huge and very comfortable. After having been trekking through the Atlas mountains and staying in huts, it was lovely to enjoy the creature comforts, a couple of english movie channels and the free wifi in the reception lobby (it would be better to have this also available in the rooms). A couple of times we had the Do not disturb sign out and housekeeping persisted in entering the room anyway, or if it was locked they would ring the room and then keep trying to enter, then the following day our room did not get serviced even though we had the housekeeping sign out as reception thought we didn't want service as the day before I had complained about being disturbed. Tip to the staff-learn to read the signs that you provide! The bar had a good range of beers and wines which they served where ever you pleased. We didn't try the restaurant for dinner, but it was a lovely setting, but just seemed a bit pricey. Breakfast up on the roof terrace was good but the staff weren't overally attentive or warming. The sunsets from the roof terrace are very nice, and it is a nice spot to chill out in the afternoon and catch some sun or just read a book and take in the view. Location is perfect as it is in the Medina, close to the port and restaurants. We went for a jog in the mornings along the beach which was lovely and felt safe, in fact the whole of Essaouira feels safe and friendly. Tips for Essaouira, it is worth the 10 dirhams each to enter the ramparts and sit up top just watching the seagulls coast on by. If you are catching the Supra tours bus from Marrakesh, keep your camera at the ready as you will pass by some Argan trees that the goats are climbing! (about 1hr into the trip, our bus driver did slow down, I think they all do, but just in case).

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the stairs as they get groups of tourists in and our room was just at the t...

Stayed 2 nights in this very pleasant riad. Very comfortable, clean rooms in a tranquil environment, a nice restaurant and an excellent location just within the walls of the old town and near to the port.Staff were friendly.
Breakfast on the roof terrace added to a very good all round experience.

My daughter and I spent a most relaxing week at this lovely riad, which is centrally located with easy access to the beach, docks and medina. Our room was very comfortable with modern amenities and traditional Moroccan furnishings. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The breakfast on the terrace was great and the panoramic view excellent. Thanks to the staff who made our stay memorable. Marie and Siofra from Northern Ireland

Myself and my boyfriend had a wonderful stay here for three nights in September. The Riad is clean and very well decorated and the staff are so helpful and friendly. The little touches make all the difference and there were plenty. The food is fantastic too!
We would highly recommend.

(There is a now picture of a swimming pool above but I'm pretty sure there wasn't one!?!?!?)

Hello to the Team of Dar L‘Oussia

we stayed at beautiful Dar L‘Oussia from May 6-9, 2012. The room was wonderful, with fresh roses on the table. Breakfast was excellent and the service was perfect. Thank you so much again, all the best! Regine and Jochen Reimers from Germany.
