“Perfection!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

During a whole week, we could not find ONE thing to complain about! The rooms are so unique and original - and very clean. The staff is helpful and nice and we even dined for two nights with the wonderful manager, Hayad. She gave us tips for restaurants and places to go, and they were all perfect. Breakfast is served on the roof terrasse, which was a perfect way to start each day. We really enjoyed everything about our stay, and can actually say that it was the best part about our holiday in essaouira. It felt like being a very loved and dear friend at a stay in a friends personal home! And make sure to have dinner there!!!

Room Tip: Placement is good and there is no noise from the streets

Located down a small grubby alley in the Medina, this riad is a most unexpected pleasure. Jean Gabriel greets you with great warmth and within moments you are welcomed into house filled with an eclectic selection of artworks, both modern and old by local and overseas artists. Each room is large, airy and pleasantly furnished. The best homemade yoghurt is served for breakfast along with delicious freshly squeezed orange juice. Breakfast is overseen by a "tame" seagull who visits daily! Nothing is too difficult for the staff to do for you. Jean Gabriel's local knowledge is extensive and his restaurant recommendations terrific. We would certainly never have found these without his help. The Medina is small so this Riad is perfectly situated for guests to walk to all the attractions. There is a chilly wind blowing off the coast but the roof terrace allowed us to sunbathe. This is a gem of a riad, we will definitely be staying there again when we next visit Essaouira. In fact I can hardly wait.

Wonderful, clean, refurbished, tastefully decorated, interesting, artistic and most importantly, extremely welcoming Riad.
The Riad is as much an extension of the erudite, open and gregarious owner Jean Gabriel as it is a "hotel". His knowledge and appetite for life are the perfect opposite of the bland corporate hotel experience. Great location within walking distance of the best restaurants. I will not be staying anywhere else on my yearly Essaouira visit whilst there is space here...(Merci a tous Jean Gabriel, Samira, Nisrine and Mounir). .

A very well located riad with incredibly friendly staff who often go out of their way without a problem. The owner has great insight and recommendations for the city and always friendly. The rooms are huge and a great place to spend time, or you can relax in the small garden or take some sun on the roof. I loved it and definitely would stay here again x

Marvellous Riad. Warm, soulful, genuine... Jean-Gabriel, the well-travelled owner who lives in an appartment on site, is a really nice "mec". The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfasts, served on the roof terrace, are substantial and delicious. The rooms and public areas are furnished and decorated eclectically and with effortless taste: Moroccan and Berber artefacts, Old French film posters, black & white photographs... There are well-thumbed books all over the place, tortoises munching lettuce in the little courtyard, bits and pieces catching the eye everywhere you look. A joy of a place to stay in a joy of a town.

A top notch riad in a beautiful seaside town. My wife and I stayed here two nights in May and absolutely loved it. The host, John, is terrific -- friendly, helpful, great sense of humor. He gave us two absolutely outstanding recommendations for places to eat. His staff are super as well, friendly and very hardworking -- and they keep the place spotless. Nicely decorated with Moroccan furniture and art. The location inside the medina walls makes it easy to visit the souks, shops, the ramparts of the Portuguese fort and sea port (which is lovely). Can’t find enough superlatives to describe this “find.” Highly recommended: Grade A.

I can confirm all the other excellent reviews in my opinion are correct. Not only is the Riad itself amazing, but so are the hosts. The recommendations for things to do and places to eat provided by Jean Paul were also spot on. Book early to avoid disappointment,
