We can't give enough praise to Jean Gabriel and Riad Watier. We arrived with our two children (5 & 6) having never been to Morocco before and were SOO thrilled we booked this Riad. We hopped off the plane, made the car ride and were in time to have drinks on the rooftop for sunset. In the morning Jean Gabriel took the children to see the baby seagulls, tortoises, lizards and more whilst we relaxed. His family is gorgeous and the staff is equally welcoming. We dined in their dining room and met loads of lovely people. We shared our plans and expectations and it was a great place to re-group after spending the days shopping, beaching, camel trekking, etc. I can't recommend them enough. Every room is lovely, safe and welcoming. Go to Morocco, go to Essaouira and definitely make Riad Watier a part of it. We will be back someday!

Stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful time. We met the owner the afternoon we arrived, but sadly he was leaving for France early the next morning. Although, he was very warm and gregarious when we arrived as he gave us a tour of his place.

Tucked away in a little alley, just look for the "Bob Music" sign on the main street to find which alley to turn into. The place is very funky with cool kitsch everywhere; french books and odd pieces of bric-a-brac in our room and all over the house.

The staff is so helpful that as I tried to bring down my luggage, someone overheard me and he came running upstairs to make sure I didn't try to walk with my luggage down the stairs. They even provided us a map of the town and showed us where to go.

Note that you might not want to share the room with whom you might not feel fully comfortable. You can still look into the bathroom even after you close the door. No problem for us married couples, but might be a problem for others.

A slight complaint is that our sheets seemed a little damp. We don't know if it was because of the beach climate or maybe they had a difficult time drying the sheets.

The next time we come back to Essaouira we wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Just brilliant.
Friendly owner and helpful staff. Wonderful approach to all our needs.
The breakfasts on the roof was great (despite the staircase). The evening meal (pre-booked) is worth it!
A great place to stay in a great holiday break location. Decided it was so good we are buying a second home there!
If you already know Essaouira this Riad is a must to give you a peaceful place in the sun.... and if you don't know this Historic Heritage location then get there soon!

I came for a few days with my wife and a two-year old son. We were wonderfully taken care of. Excellent breakfast on the room, overlooking the ocean, a library (with guidebooks and a Jules Verne collection), very helpfull staff. They fixed up a bed for the baby at no extra charge. Jean-Gabriel, the owner, is a kind host. I did not want to leave. I am still haunted by that wonderful dream.

This is a beautiful Riad in a beautiful city. Two things stick out about this riad that need comment. First, their front office staff spoke English which is a HUGE plus. Secondly, they truly value customer service, which is hard to find in Morocco. The staff helped me make dinner reservations, talked about sites to visit and checked on us to see if we needed anything.

Thanks for a job well done!
