“Tres chic and very pleasant too!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Today we visited the newly opened Babel a short drive from Essaouira.Babel is a short distance from the Route Marrakesh, down a benign piste, and next to Les Jardins de Villa Maroc.
We were really impressed-the food was very good indeed(the weekend barbecue-sallads,other starters, fine grilled meat,as well as cheeses from Meskala and smashing desserts-fruit sallad, fondant, mousse, gateau).Really very well done. The reception from Brigitte and Jamal was cordial and friendly, just right in tone and style. The service was very good measured by any standard, and outstanding for Essaouira-the waiters were kind, attentive and highly professional.
The Babel exterior with the big terrace around the pool and with olive and argan trees as well as lots of other plants, flowers and shrubs is delightful.
The interior is very smart and tres chic-elegantly furnitured with a great sense of style and humour, with unusual and clever combinations of designs and materials.Like the living/dining room of your best aesthetically gifted friend!
We are lucky to live only four kilometres away, and shall return many times.

“A gem hidden in the Maroc countryside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

It was certainly worth the 15mins drive out of Essaouira ! what used to be a farm land for goats , they had converted it into a brand new establishment surrounded by Argan & olive trees When you enter the restaurant, you are greeted by very warm and hospitable service , stunning swimming pool surrounded by very tastefully designed layout of pool loungers, tables & chairs. As a party of 6 ladies , we sat at the shaded " cave " which was my favorite area . The ambiance was spot on and we had a fabulous time which lasted a span of 5 hours . They served a buffet style lunch with amazing plates & plates of delicious salads , the b'cue meats were so perfectly charred and to finish it off, you must have the chocolate fondant which was such a treat !
A perfect day out in Essaouira !

“A feast for the senses!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

Hidden deep in the woods, this oasis offers delicious food, a wonderful setting, welcoming hosts and great mojitos. The decor is as much a feast for the eyes as the food and cocktails are for the taste buds.

Reservations are recommended but we popped by for drinks and a light bite on evening and - unlike many of the countryside hotels and restaurants near Essaouira - there was ambience, clientele, soft music and staff ready and waiting to welcome us. I'll be going back soon on a weekend for the fixed price buffet BBQ with use of the pool and sun loungers!

This new venture by Brigitte and Jamal is really worth the trip. And they make it easy by providing a very reasonably-priced shuttle service from Essaouira medina.
