“Lovely place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Like many travelers through Morocco, we decided to head to Essaouira after spending some time in Marrakech. We needed some down time to relax and some space. Casa Guapa was the ideal spot for us! Nadine and Samira are wonderful hosts, make you feel quite at home, and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable.
The apartments themselves are adorable, and very different from anything you will stay in while in Morocco. They are cozy, have plenty of light, and the roof top terrace is just fantastic! It's a great spot to truly soak up the wonderful ambiance of Essaouira.
Now for the breakfast....WOW....I can honestly say that the breakfast we had on the first morning was quite possibly one of the best I have every had! I have been around for 34 years, and have traveled all over the world, so this is saying a lot! A fresh tomato salad, Msemen with honey and almonds, a wonderful cheese mixture, baguette, variety of fresh jams, etc, etc.. Gosh, my only regret is that I didn't ask for the identical breakfast for the following morning (which was also good, but the first one was out of this world)
All in all a wonderful stay! Thank you so much Nadine and Samira!

Having stayed in Marrakech two years ago and had a day trip to Essaouira,we knew we wanted to experience Morocco at a slightly slower pace!
Our pre-arranged taxi transfer with the charming Aziz was a smooth and informative journey.
Casa de Guapa lived up to its descriptions and glowing reviews. The web site pictures are completely accurate.
We were welcomed by Samira who kindly showed us our well appointed first floor apartment then around the local neighbourhood, and after a good nights sleep, we experienced one of Nadine's famous breakfasts in the "Hobbit" kitchen on the roof terrace.
Our talented, friendly, warm and caring hostess then took us on a walking tour and gave us lots of useful information..
We enjoyed staying "in the community" and using local shops.
It is easy to self cater in the spacious apartment but we also advise you to experience a delicious Tagine in house.
Karim told us about nearby Sidi Koaki down the coast so we caught a local bus and had a lovely day, a very laid back place with good, well priced food, and a gorgeous beach.
We can thoroughly recommend Casa de Guapa for any age traveller who wants to get away from big, boring hotel chain holidays.
We hope to visit again one day.

Nadine has put so much love and attention to detail into Casa Guapa, she is a fantastic artist and we enjoyed so many features of her place. . . The colours, beds, living space - we really loved it all. Nadine is a informative and friendly host and gave such great advise for exploring Essouria. But to cap in all is the best breakfast ever, served on the beautiful roof space. You can tell I am a complete fan of Nadine's and her space. . . We are definitely coming back!!!! Casa Guapa rightly deserves to me #1 in places to stay in Essouria.

We choose this hotel not just because it’s rated no 1 on this site but also because we like quirky unique hotels and this fitted the bill. We had the top floor room where the shared kitchen and lounge area was. Because of the shared space we had more room to relax and chill out than your usual hotel room. Everything around us was decorated with such care and love. It was bright and colourful and full of life. Now let me tell you their breakfast is worth every Euro! It was our first Moroccan breakfast and we really enjoyed the variety. Truly homemade and very fresh!

Our host Samira was one of the kindest and nicest people I have come across. She took us on a guided tour to the medina pointing out places of interest and restaurants along the way. She was on hand for every question we fired her way. I would say that our stay was made more special because of her.

The only downside we thought was the location as it was a little further from the sea and medina than we anticipated. Taxis are cheap so returning at night was not a problem. This would explain the lower rates compared to the hotels and riads near the medina.

One last thing, for those who have never tried a hammam, I would suggest you try a spa in the medina or hotel rather than the local hammam opposite the hotel. It’s not for the faint hearted or hammam virgins :)

Room Tip: If you have heavy luggage ask for the room on the first floor. It's a bit of a climb to the top.

It is not very often that one is so satisfied with a travelling experience. But it did happen to me during my one week stay at La Casa Guapa de Tamuziga in june 2012! What an amazing experience. A gem in the middle of Essaouira, Morocco. The setting is beautiful, the atmosphere warm and cozy, the breakfast fabulous. Not enough can be said about the owner, Nadine! What a wonderful host. She was always present, answering questions and giving pointers as what to do or were to go, thus making my stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend la Casa Guapa to anybody travelling to Essaouira, Morocco. You won't regret it!

Casa Guapa is a perfect place to stay in Essaouira: a beautiful spacious apartment with all equipment available, nicely decorated, lots of charm and this for a nice price. It is not located in the medina, but beach (5 minutes by foot) and medina (5 minutes by taxi) can be reached easily. We (family of 6) all loved the place. It was just a pity that we could not fully benefit from the cozy terrace due to the strong winds in Essaouira.
Nadine, the owner helped us a lot while preparing our travel to Morocco (arrangement of the our private driver Aziz with whom we toured for 8 days through the country: we can highly recommend him to others).
In short: an excellent choice to stay in Essaouira.

Casa Guapa is a very charming spot and earns its reputation as the"beautiful house".Indeed it is a very adorable and exceptionally designed house.Casa Guapa attracts attention in the neighbourhood of Tamuziga (this is the very ancient name of Essaouira) and immediately you will discover our differentness to other guesthouses in the old Medina. The individual care about our guests in a familiar ambience is most important to us and at the same time the guests have their own full privacy and space. You can cater yourselves or be pampered by our famous breakfast and enjoy our homemade moroccan dishes at home. Two individual decorated apartments and one charming studio on the beautiful roof terrace provide convenience at a different level of prices and make Casa Guapa an excellent place to meet interesting people in a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoying the sunset with friends on the roof terrace can be the perfect finale to a pleasurable day.On the groundfloor of Casa Guapa is "Chez Nadine". Her space of living and creativity with a small studio is private, although the sympatic mistress is happy to open her doors for occasionally sponteanous creative, social and culinary activities. Some of the creations which have been realized in the studio, are as well part of the furnishing on the upper floors of Casa Guapa. If you are looking for a delicious dinner on the terrace or a relaxing massage, a cleaning lady or a baby-sitter, more knowledge about craft work and special insider tips, or you want to learn how to cook moroccan food – the charming mistress Nadine and her team will be happy to be at your disposal. If you wish to be pampered with our famous breakfast we offer you this delicious and varied experience as an extra.Communication is easy in Casa Guapa because we speak French, English, German, Spanish and Arabic.Every guest has free access to the sunny roof terrace, where he can find a comfortable spot to relax. We provide free wifi internet connection in the whole house. If you need a taxi from the airport of Essaouira, Marrakech or Agadir, we can organise your personal driver to pick you up there and bring you straight to Casa Guapa.Guests travelling by car can park easily and free of charge in front of the house.Casa Guapa is located in the quarter of "Azlef" opposite of Hammam Ghita (typical arabic bath, spoken: Rita), in the middle of the center of New Essaouira.Different to the turbulent and busy life of the acient Medina you will feel here straight away being part of the moroccan neighborhood and at the same time it is only a 15 minutes’ walk by foot to the Medina, its impressive harbour and the main tourist attractions of the city, 8 minutes to the beach and 2 to the forest.Small taxis are also circulating for 50 cents per ride everywhere in town. The new but not touristy Hammam and shopping facilities like supermarkets, bakeries, laundries and cafés are conveniently situated just around the house. ... more   less
