“Hidden gem in non touristy local area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2012 via mobile

Nadine is the ultimate host in her personally built/created/loved casa. Situated in a local area out of, but not far from, the touristy medina, every detail in the property is selected by Nadine's eagle creative eye. Ably assisted by her friend, Samira, Nadine provides tips on Essa's secret spots and good value restaurants. Shes on hand to chat and drink tea with and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are fresh and different each day. All in all, the energy and vibe in casa guapa is one of warmth and you feel a part of the local community. I'd definitely go back x

Stayed here for 10 days over Christmas in the 2BR apartment on the second floor. Nadine has a great sense of style and decorated the place beautifully - including fresh flowers. The kitchen was well equipped, we had free WIFI and everything was really clean with great attention to detail. The roof terrace was a great place to sit and have breakfast in the sun. We've stayed in the medina on a previous visit and much preferred to be here in the 'new' town - much more chilled and less intense. As we were kitesurfing, it was closer to the beach for carrying our gear and also meant you could choose when to visit the medina for a spot of shopping/eating etc. It's only a 10 min walk or 6 dirham taxi ride. Took supratours bus from Marrakech on last visit (cheap but a bit of a faff) so this time took Nadine up on her offer of a taxi from the airport - 700 dirhams between 4 people plus loads of kitebags was well worth it. Nadine was really helpful throughout our stay and full of ideas/suggestions for things to do and places to visit. Was great to have the option of buying food in the market (and the shop next to us) to cook at the apartment and therefore not have to eat out all of the time. Will definitely stay here again!

We stayed here for one week in November. It is a 2BR apartment on the first floor, very well equipped, comfortable and spacious. The owner, Nadine, lives downstairs and could not be more helpful.
The apartment is situated in the "new" town about 15 minutes walk to the harbour and the old walled town.
Essaouira is a fascinating place, our favourite in Morocco, and should not be missed.

We stayed as family of four at Casa Guapa during July 2011. Our stay was very good and Nadine was a great host. She was very helpful and resourceful - she even helped with arranging our journey on from Essaouira. The apartment is beautiful, clean and about 10 minutes walk to the beach. We also made use of taxi driver Aziz for our journey to and from Essaouira - arranged through Nadine - a wonderful and pleasant gentleman. All in all a great place to stay.

Stayed in Casa Guapa for three nights and could not be happier with the time we had there! Nadine, our host, is an absolute star with wonderful ideas for how to spend your time in Essaouira, amazing food and very interesting to talk to as well. She makes this place for us!

The top roof terrace is stunning, and the whole building in general is beautifully decorated and in great upkeep. Showers/beds/living spaces all clean and good quality. Close to local stores and a short walk from the Medina etc.

Highly recommended and you will not be better looked after anywhere in the world. Thank you Nadine!

Room Tip: Top floor gives access to the roof terrace and great for two sharing!

From the moment we arrived at the entrance of Casa Guapa and saw Nadine's welcoming smile; we knew we would be looked after by our host, and Nadine did not fail! She led us up to the most beautiful apartment in Essaouira! Honestly, the photos on the website (while gorgeous!) do not do the apartment justice! It is truly stunning! There is beauty and art everywhere you look! Nadine has such an amazing artistic eye! And so clean! As soon as we looked around we all said that we wanted to actually live there! Seriously, I could not have imagined a nicer, more beautiful, tranquil place to live!

After showing us around the perfectly equipped apartment, Nadine gave us time to settle in and then came back to take us on a tour of the area. The apartment is perfectly positioned! So close to the beach; just a short walk, and the lovely little cafés and the Medina. She gave us tips on route of the best places to eat and shop too! She gave perfect advice!

I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone wishing to have an aesthetically beautiful, restful stay in Essaouira! My only complaint is that we did not stay long enough!! I will definitely be returning to Essaouira; mainly to experience the vibe and the beautiful Casa Guapa again! Thank you so much, Nadine for everything!!

We stayed at Casa Guapa for 3 nights at the beginning of september in the top floor roof terrace appartment. It is such a lovely place, amazing decoration and perfect for relaxation. It's in a great spot, close to the beach and and not far from the Medina either.

We were so well looked after with delicious breakfasts and Samira was there to honour our every need.

I hope to return soon and would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Casa Guapa is a very charming spot and earns its reputation as the"beautiful house".Indeed it is a very adorable and exceptionally designed house.Casa Guapa attracts attention in the neighbourhood of Tamuziga (this is the very ancient name of Essaouira) and immediately you will discover our differentness to other guesthouses in the old Medina. The individual care about our guests in a familiar ambience is most important to us and at the same time the guests have their own full privacy and space. You can cater yourselves or be pampered by our famous breakfast and enjoy our homemade moroccan dishes at home. Two individual decorated apartments and one charming studio on the beautiful roof terrace provide convenience at a different level of prices and make Casa Guapa an excellent place to meet interesting people in a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoying the sunset with friends on the roof terrace can be the perfect finale to a pleasurable day.On the groundfloor of Casa Guapa is "Chez Nadine". Her space of living and creativity with a small studio is private, although the sympatic mistress is happy to open her doors for occasionally sponteanous creative, social and culinary activities. Some of the creations which have been realized in the studio, are as well part of the furnishing on the upper floors of Casa Guapa. If you are looking for a delicious dinner on the terrace or a relaxing massage, a cleaning lady or a baby-sitter, more knowledge about craft work and special insider tips, or you want to learn how to cook moroccan food – the charming mistress Nadine and her team will be happy to be at your disposal. If you wish to be pampered with our famous breakfast we offer you this delicious and varied experience as an extra.Communication is easy in Casa Guapa because we speak French, English, German, Spanish and Arabic.Every guest has free access to the sunny roof terrace, where he can find a comfortable spot to relax. We provide free wifi internet connection in the whole house. If you need a taxi from the airport of Essaouira, Marrakech or Agadir, we can organise your personal driver to pick you up there and bring you straight to Casa Guapa.Guests travelling by car can park easily and free of charge in front of the house.Casa Guapa is located in the quarter of "Azlef" opposite of Hammam Ghita (typical arabic bath, spoken: Rita), in the middle of the center of New Essaouira.Different to the turbulent and busy life of the acient Medina you will feel here straight away being part of the moroccan neighborhood and at the same time it is only a 15 minutes’ walk by foot to the Medina, its impressive harbour and the main tourist attractions of the city, 8 minutes to the beach and 2 to the forest.Small taxis are also circulating for 50 cents per ride everywhere in town. The new but not touristy Hammam and shopping facilities like supermarkets, bakeries, laundries and cafés are conveniently situated just around the house. ... more   less
