“Excellent location and friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

We stayed here for 3 nights in early July and really liked the place. Location of the riad is great, just off a main thoroughfare in Essaouira right in the Medina. The staff here are very friendly and helpful.

All rooms are upstairs and we chose a double room with view of the Medina which we booked on booking.com. We payed a little extra for a room with a view and didn't find noise a problem with the windows closed at night. However, booking.com indicated that the room had a patio which was not accurate. I notice that patio is indicated for all the rooms in the riad which gives the impresion of each having a private terrace which they don't. There is a roof terrace but this should included in the overall riad description. Room was comfortably furnished with sofa and coffee table however, and towels and bathroom were very clean.

The breakfasts at this riad were excellent and brought to the table rather than buffet style and always served with a smile. The roof terrace on which breakfast is served is fine for a short sit but the furniture isn't great and could be made more of. Otherwise the decor is really nice and its a very comfortable place. Would recommend.

Room Tip: Rooms with view of the street are not noisy provided windows are closed and are great for watching s...

I can't praise this Riad enough;

At check-in the receptionist was cheerful and welcoming to us on our arrival - the check-in process was quickly completed and we were taken to our room to ensure it met our needs.

The room was well decorated, had a double bed with small night tables at each side, a settee, coffee table, wardrobe and also an upper mezzanine for an additional bed (ideal if travelling with a child). The en-suite bathroom was of a good size, tiled, with a functioning shower area (hot and cold water) at one end, wash basin and mirro in the middle and toilet at the opposite end from the shower. Both the room and bathroom were clean, the furnishings in the room were in good condition and towels were provided (as well as toilet paper, which isn't always the case). The room was cleaned daily, including towel change. Our room had two windows and faced onto one of the main thoroughfares of the medina -- the windows were double glazed, and when closed no sounds could be heard from outside, enabling a sound sleep.

On the roof of the Riad, the terrace overlooks the medina, and while the view wasn't the best, it was an attractive area to have breakfast and also to chill out in the late afternoon/early evening before ehading out to dinner.

The breakfast was one of the best I have experienced in Morocco -- each person had a boiled egg, moroccan pancake, pan au chocolate, bread, butter, jam, a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and choice of tea or coffee (served in flasks) with hot milk (also in a flask) and sugar. We both had a coffee, and there was enough coffee in the flask to provide us with 3 cups each. The coffee was of a good quality and was well enjoyed.

As breakfast was included in the price of the room, this made the cost of the room per night (34 euro) very good value.

We both enjoyed our stay in this Riad, and would definetely stay there again if we return to Essaouira.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the main thoroughfare / shopping street are bright and airy with two windows.

I booked this riad, because I was based in Marrakech and wanted to enjoy the coast for 2 days. I just checked which room in town could be low priced and didn't care about other criteria...and I was positively surprised! The riad is central located, colorful decorated (with love for details) and has nice small, but comfortable rooms. The receptionist (a young woman) was very friendly, gave me the city map and the password for the wi-fi (yes, it was functioning in the room). Breakfast was nothing special, but also not to bad.There's no buffet, they bring you the breakfast on the tablet, served on the sunny roof-deck. For the price of 25€/night I was surprised that there was breakfast included at all. Bath was a little bit dark, but with warm watter, 2 towels and a small soap. Rooms to the street could be noisy till the evening (kind of gameplay-room for locals downstairs in the street), but in the night i enjoyed absolute silence (after Marrakech, almost forgotten phenomena). Resumé: I would take room in this riad even for more than one night!

There was some very positive elements to our stay but some negatives too. One of the people who works on reception was lovely, she was very friendly and was happy to help us out, one of the guys working on reception wasn't so nice. The room was small but clean, though there were no light bulbs in the reading lamps (making the room very dark) and we had to specifically ask them to put them in. The breakfast was pretty awful - stale bread and patisseries, not nice tasting tea, dodgy jam, we only ate the breakfast on our first night (of two) as it was that bad. The hotel's pretty good value at 300 dirhams a night. Very central location. We would stay here again at a push if we didn't find something better.

We had only one night their - but it was awesome. The room was clean and we had a bathroom in suite. Quite small but totally nice. The staff was nice and more than helpful. The breakfast was great and on a very high level. You get your breakfast on the terrace which is another big plus point, cause the terrace is sunny and wonderful. We can recommend this riad to everyone and we would come back. Also the price is more than fair!
