“Wonderful surprise, wish we could have stayed longer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

My boyfriend and I were travelling Morocco and after a heavy day of travelling, arriving at this oasis and being greeted by Bernadette and Didier was an absolute pleasure. Room was fab, food incredible. I would highly recommend to anyone, family orientated or couples. Young or old - it caters for all. Do not be put off by some of the reviews saying it's out the way. We did not have a car and we were offered lifts or kindly sorted out with taxis. Thank you for a lovely time, we hope to return again soon. Alice & Jonathan x

I have recently returned from a 7 night stay at Villa Daba where I vacationed with a girlfriend. The proprietors Bernadette and Didier (& wonderful staff) along with the best behaved pooch EVER....little Momous.....were fantastic hosts who looked after our every need even though we could not speak to them in their native French. The villa was stunning, with beautiful individually designed rooms leading out onto a gorgeous garden and swimming pool. The food at the villa was exceptional and freshly prepared each day (continental breakfast and dinner was a gastronomic surprise each night, but worth noting that lunch is not available so we would buy in snacks to see us through until the evening or eat lunch out). It is a 15 minute car journey to the town so it is advisable to hire one if you want to explore as we ended up paying a small fortune in taxis. I would absolutely love to go back one day and can highly recommend this beautiful little paradise to wind down and relax.

I stayed here in July with my husband and 25yr old daughter who was keen to visit Morocco so she tagged along for,in theory, a one off whistle stop tour and since then I have been trying to work out when I can go back....I know she would be jealous if we returned to Villa Daba without her.

As soon as you arrive, see how beautiful the villa is and meet Didier, Bernadette Momo and Momous the dog, you know you will fall in love with the place

It has a wonderful light fresh feel after the hustle of medinas. The rooms and bathrooms are bright and spacious with splashes of colour. The beds comfortable. We had a daybed on the terrace (La Rochelle suite) which my daughter commandeered. The pool was lovely and clean and inviting.

Didier loves to cook and one night cooked three different menus having asked us all what we would like before he went off to the market. Hannah mentioned she had had sting ray on previous travels and Didier came back with some for us. That was a surprise!

We will be back and for longer next time....sometimes you find a place where you feel totally at home and with great people around you who make your holiday special you are sad to leave and you can see yourself returning again and again......Villa Daba is one of them..

Room Tip: La Rochelle suite has two double beds in separate rooms and the one bathroom. We loved it There is...

My girlfriend and I arrived at Villa Daba after a very long day's travelling and were welcomed warmly by Bernadette and Didier as if we were family. The villa is beautifully kept and very thoughtfully run; everything is kept very clean and tidy and the decor of the rooms show a lot of attention to detail. The food it also brilliant; breakfast included jams homemade by Bernadette and the three course dinner was excellent and incredibly good value. The villa is set 5 minutes drive outside of Essouira but Didier offered us lifts and arranged taxis for us when necessary. We had a relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable stay and we hope to go back soon.

We, a young couple from Berlin, seeking for relaxation and good food, found a beautiful oasis at Villa Daba. The french owners are unique personalities who spent many years of their life in Africa, they are true world citizens and their place reflects this...

They cook excellent food every day for their guests - if requested, everybody sits at one table, what makes it easy to connect with other guests if you like conversation...
The service is superb, Momo the head butler is such a sophisticated and friendly person, he could easily work in a 6* luxury hotel...

The pool is priceless because it can get really hot.

We went to Essaouira twice, the souk/market there is much calmer and more authentic than the one in Marakesh, if we come back to Marocco, it will be Essaouira again...

The owner, Didier, also helps you book trips, we took an amazing Quad tour in the dunes along the beach.

There is so much to rave about and nothing to complain at all, it deserves No1!

Villa Daba, just outside Essaouira, was the last stop of our wonderful visit to Morocco and we could not have picked a better place. We loved the beautifully decorated rooms, the clean pool, the fantastic food and especially the warm welcome by Didier, Bernadette and Momo. They make you feel so much at home and take hospitality and great service to a higher level. Unfortunately we could only stay for one night, but we will be back! If only for a lobster diner or some more of that fresh fish and homemade desserts.....
Do not get discouraged that you have to drive along a dirt road for a while, it is worth it!

My husband, and our two kids (9 months and 3 years) just arrived home from the most magnificent family vacation ever! A trip to Villa Daba, under the warmest and loving care of "Aunt Bernadette, Uncle Didier and his first class staff "Mo Mo" and crew is like staying with your favorite family in a far away enchanted villa in Morocco. They created for us the perfect environment to spend two weeks caring for our very active kids, yet ensuring that we experience the warmth, the beauty and the extraordinary Moroccan inspired, gourmet French cuisine.

Let me start by saying that my husband and I are travel journalists and I have worked 7 years for an Emmy award winning Food show........we were nothing less than BLOWN away by Didier´s usage of Moroccan ingredients like the daily plethora of fresh fish from the Essaouira fishermen, to conjure up new, exciting and delicious meals for us everyday. They created in total....10 non repeating gourmet meals for us at a VERY reasonable price. Just to name a few: Sting Ray, Crab, Fresh Tuna, oh the list goes on and on! Bernadette is also a masterful baker and made delicious ice creams and fruit tarts from local ingredients!

Since we have very small children and did not want to be in a theme induced all inclusive resort, we were hoping to find a quiet and serene hotel that could accomodate our needs to stay at the hotel for long periods of time and use their kitchen for the baby. They were extremely kind and understanding to all of our needs.

The pool was perfect and the organic garden with chickens along with the turtle garden kept our 3 year old occupied and happy. They also have a nice "chill out" tent in which to relax in when the heat of the day hits!

I could write a book on our stay, but the details and the friendships that we made along the way, are for us! I cannot wait to take my family and friends back. Thank you Bernadette and Didier!

Best,
Tracey, Stefan and the boys

Room Tip: There are only 6 rooms and they are all quiet nice!
