“My favourite Cafe in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2014

This cafe, which is in a very central location is the perfect place to have a lunchtime coffee. The Cafe is lavishly decorated while the atmosphere and ambiance is second to none. The coffee is quite good for Morocco while the pastries looked beautiful.

“Tea / Coffee break Perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

This place is wonderfully priced for a tea break from the hubbub outside. An amazing selection of pastries and cakes to choose from the window display. Always tasty treat and good value. Became a daily tradition for us when we go to Essaouira.

“Amazing pastries in Essaouira”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

We stumbled upon this place while walking through the Medina. Both my husband and I believe what determines a quality bakery is whether or not you can smell the aroma of the baking from the street. This place achieved that, we would have found it if it weren't for this amazing aroma coming out the front door.
We went in and tried to communicate with the store owner who spoke little English, but point at one pastry which he told us were special for Ramadan. Inside there was a mix of both local and tourists, which is always a great sign. We went with his recommendations and were so glad we did. It was an amazing pastry filled with chocolate, but unlike any other I've had before. It was so good that we kept searching for this pastry after leaving, but were never able to find it again.
Everything else in the display case looked amazing and we sampled a few other baked goods which weren't as good, but still delicious.
If you're in Essaouira, definitely go. It's a bit difficult to find, located at the end of a street on the outskirts of the Medina. If you're in the fishermans village, take the road on the left which leads back into the Medina. Chez Driss is located at the end of that road.

Lovely plate of pastries and mint tea sitting in the courtyard - nice mid day break. You can also have an omelette which looked good.
