“This is the place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

Unlike other restaurants in Essaouira we returned here - and wish we just ate here all the time! The food is excellent - some of the best we have had in Morocco - and is cheaper than other restaurants that we found. Tucked away in a side alley, the restaurant is charming. The chef (who was doubling as waiter when we visited) is a really lovely guy, who talked us through the menu and suggested places that we might like to visit in Morocco. The background music was great too! This is definitely the place for good food!

“Friendly local place that I would have liked to return to!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2012

Went here as a group of 6 on our penultimate night in Essouira, and were so so pleasantly surprised and delighted! A MASSIVE plus is that you can bring your own wine, so that brings down the bill considerably, and indeed is the only way to drink alcohol in this restaurant, as it's otherwise not licensed.
The food was excellent, particularly the seafood pastilla, and all the dishes were patiently explained to us (in English) before ordering.
We went somewhere different on our last night, and sorely regretted it!
Can't recommend this place highly enough.

“Great atmosphere with excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2010

In a word, this place had it all for my wife and I on our honeymoon in Essaouira. The staff (one brother) were very friendly, excellent service and the food (another brother) was top rate. The musical entertainment (another brother) was a nice surprise and people generally liked the vibe in the restaurant. Its a very relaxed, homely, no frills restaurant and we appreciated that there was no pressure on us to move tables when we had finished our meal. In fact the waiter encouraged us to stay on a bit longer for the musical entertainment....."sweet home essaouira" was a notable highlight.
Overall if we were to recommend one restaurant in the whole of Essaouira, this and Elizir down the street would be it. By the way, if you wanted to purchase alcohol, staff would discreetly arrange this for you, but it comes with a hefty price tag (€40 approx for a bottle of red).

“Delicious food for a smaal price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2009

We have been there several times in March 2009. Why? Because the food is very good, the people are very friendly and the price is low.
After and during dinner the family makes music and that creates a fine atmosphere. Amine (one of the brothers) likes to talk about how he prepares the food but also tells yo al lot of other things about Marocco. We even got a present from him before leaving Marocco. We took with us (frozen) Pastilla he had especially made for us to enyoi this at home!
