“Wonderful holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

We were on a walking holiday in Morocco and stayed for 3 nights in Essouira at this hotel. The staff were unfailingly friendly and polite. The pool and surrounding area with lovely trees, breakfast outside with white napery, food delicious and varied. The hotel is spacious and cool and just really lovely. I would recommend it unreservedly.

Room Tip: Ground floor with french windows to patios...you can just walk over to breakfast or to the pool.

very clean . lovely rooms . nice big bed -very comfortable . didnt try food .3 english channels on big tv .

lovely big pool . essaouira is windy most of the time so pool area is windy . we had one calm day and it was a nice break from the wind . in mid summer i would imagine the wind is a good thing though .

the medina is about a 20-25 minute walk away along the lovely beach . we had breakfast there at about 30 dirh which was a lot cheaper (hotel was 160 dirh each )

all the staff were very helpfull . we payed £198 for 5 nights !

Essaouira is a lovely place to visit . the people are more relaxed and not so pushy . the fishermen in the harbour are amazing to watch . some nice walks around the old town and some lovely food . book the supratours coach from marrakech -it takes 2 and a half hours and costs £5 each

Nice and clean hotel + pool with friendly people working there. Privat beach is a little bit small but ok, because not really bussy. Hotel has more a buisness atmosphere but is also nice for relaxing.

Service and facilities outstanding. Hotel well maintained. Beautiful stylish room. Plentiful breakfast even at 10.00. The only fault so far is coffee is weak. Stayed in Le Meridien in Marrakech before this. Le Meridien could learn a thing or two from Atlas Essaouira Spa.

SHocked by the indifferent service of the hotel receptionists, the place was held together by the odd manager who knew they were failing. The male front desk manager really tired hard but let down by his gossipy juniur staff.

Surprisng to walk into a 5 star (corruption or joke ?) hotel and be met by guests freely smoking in restaurants, child play areas, lobby et al. Food tolerable - just.

Running along the beach is great - who needs the hamster wheel in the hot smelly gym >

Get ground floor room by the pool.

Room Tip: Get ground floor room by the pool near the kids play room..

We spent two nights here but then moved to Le Medina hotel for the rest of our trip. The Atlas was fine but a bit soul-less. The hotel felt more like a business centre than a 4/5 star hotel. My partner fell through a pool grating and injured herself - no accident book, no apology from the staff.

I would say that this hotel give you value for your money; nice rooms, big pool area, superb spa and a good breakfast.
But there is a big but; the service. Even for Morocco, this so called 5* had an unacceptable standard. The staff did not seem interested to help you from the moment we steped into the resort. First of all, when we arrived it took the reseption about 15 min to check us in. No big deal really, but it was just the start of many small incidents, which were quite annoying. When we finally ariived at our room we noticed that they had given us twin beds (we ordered a kingsize). So back to the reseption again, which gave us one with a kingsize bed. 20 min later we go out to check out the pool, when we ask for towels one of the staff tells us to go back to the reception to get a card which proves we live at the hotel. Everyone uses the pool, why could they not have given us that when we checked in? Later we were about to go to the spa, and in our room it was just one bathrobe, so I called the reception to get another one, I even said I was in a hurry. Noone turns up, and I call again 30 min later. Even then they did not manage to get me one, so I had to go to the spa without one. Again, not really a big deal, but when these things happen over and over again, you get irritated.

That said, we were satisfied with our stay and can recomend it to other travelers (specially if you get a good deal on it and are not the type that cannot stad poor service). The spa can also be recomended, but you should ask for a discount at the counter!
