“Pretty place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

This hotel is extremely pretty, and very clean, you need not worry about becoming ill eating the food, this place has it's own water processing works and use scrupulous hygiene standards.

Apparently the likes of Tony Blair and the King of Saudi have both stayed here. However, bear this in mind because the snootiness here does not come from the staff, we found the members of staff all really friendly, but some of the guests staying here needed a slap the way they were treating and talking down to the staff who work here.
This is something we didn't enjoy about this hotel, it was more like South Africa than North Africa. Also we noticed that some members of staff seemed to be working extremely unhealthy long hours. Exploitation seems to abound here.
The food was nothing special at all when you consider the cost. There is smoking allowed almost everywhere throughout the hotel, so bear in mind these arrogant type guests, will give no consideration to non smokers.
Although the hotel itself is beautiful, underneath lies the nastiness of the elite society that this hotel seems to aim to cater for, leaves a nasty taste.

“AWFUL service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

The place is very nice, the architecture and decoration are amazing.
But unfortunatly the service is terrible.
We have booked 3 rooms. At the check in we have waited 1 hour to finish the procedure, the guys in the reception are not professionnal at all and work very slowly. Furthermore, 2 rooms were already available but the 3rd one was not, my friends have waited 2 hours to have their rooms.
The room service is awful, they come too late and the food is not delicious at all and expensive.
But the best part of my history is next: imagine you have to stand in line a long time to have a sit to take your breakfast!! Its was the worst breakfast i took in my life and we were obliged to clean the table by ourselves because the waiters were very busy and non professionnal. The clients were scandalized by this service. you have to fight to get anything (tea , coffee..) even for glasses you had to wait a long time to get them at the end our meal was cold and un-eatable!
To finish brillantly, when we wanted to leave the hotel, the valet parking had lost our keys!!! we were obliged to look for them in a small room during 15 minutes to find them, they just put the keys randomly even if they give you a serial number....
I don't know how people can make you pay an expensive price to offer you sush a crappy service . IT'S SHAMEFUL!

Room Tip: Change another Hotel! the service is very bad

“Pretty dreadful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

I spent 5 days in the hotel as part of a work trip and realised within a few hours of checking in that this hotel had 'foibles'. By the end of my stay, I had realised it was probably top 5 of the worst hotels I've stayed in.

Let's be clear - by no stretch of the imagination can this be considered a 5* hotel. On a good day, it might scrape 4*, largely because the rooms are big and there is a lot of marble in the public areas, but this is probably a 'good' 3* and nothing more.

First, the good bits - there are some. The grounds are immaculate, and constantly tended by an army of gardeners who are very polite and friendly.
The gym is also great, with new equipment and a nice view of the ocean, and very friendly staff.

However, that is about it.
The room was spacious, but just about everything in it didn't work properly. Some were irritating - no bath robes, a weak shower, the most uncomfortable bed I have ever had the misfortune to sleep in
And others were comical - a chest of drawers which wouldn't stay shut, and would slowly slide open, internet connections with a mind of their own.

However, the most irritating thing was the constant noise. The hallways are all tiled, so the sounds footsteps, trolleys, suitcases all reverberate through the walls. Additionally, the room I was allocated was next to the lift shaft, so I had the constant siren of the 'doors closing' noise waking me up all through the night. It was impossible to get a proper nights sleep.

In fairness, I didn't ask the staff if I could change rooms, but this was mostly because the check-in process was so painful the first time around that I couldn't face going through it again. This included the member of staff checking us in, pointing at the restaurants and saying they are open 'some nights, but we don't know when, so phone ahead before trying to go for dinner'. This was confirmed by the information book - they actually don't have opening days or times for the restaurant.

In terms of the rest of the hotel, I avoided the bar, as it was full of people attending a conference (this seems to be the core business for the hotel. There were 3 conferences on during my 5 days there).
I only tried the Sel de Mer restaurant (which was supposed to be seafood) and had the most overcooked, over-sauced and ruined bit of fish I've ever had, served with vegetables boiled to a mush.
After that, I stuck with room service, which was good and prompt.

On the day of check in, I asked reception to order me a cab to the airport. After a few phonecalls, they said all the hotel cars were fully booked.
I then asked if they could order me a local taxi. "I'll have to check with my manager if I can do that" was the reply that came. Unbelievable.
At this point, a manager overheard and stepped in to help, but it just showed that this hotel isn't capable of the most basic customer service tasks. Based on what I saw, I wouldn't want to rely on them to organise anything more complicated than a cab ride.

Room Tip: If you get a room near a lift shaft, ask to move straight away. The walls are paper thin and you wi...

“Luxurious but far”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

Not a place where I would choose to stay, I've been there for an assigned business trip. It is a huge luxurious resort with a great ocean front. The rooms are spacious and newly furnished. The staff are nice and helpful specially the ones who serve the breakfast buffet. The main problem I faced was the long distance between the resort the nearest city, Taxi will cost a 1000 MAD at least for a one way trip. The resort suits families who prefer to just enjoy the place.

Room Tip: Better to book at the third floor.

“Beautiful Building - Terrible hospitality.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

I have to say that you get impressed by the beautiful architecture but as soon as you check in, you start realizing the reality of the lack of training and professionalism this hotel so desperately needs. I am origiinally moroccan and a hosputality professional. This is my thing and I know not to give biased reviews, I was so excited to come see this hotel after all the good things I heard and read about it but it did not live up to my expectations at all to say the least. I would say the service is worse than a motel 6 in the middle of nowhere in north america. Rude unprofessional nosy security guards made me very uncomfortable. The only good thing I did experience are the smily faces of the restaurant "olivier" staff and a very nice egyptian guy at the reception "wael maybe". I really was not impressed by the room, although the view was amazing, but it did not reflect the 5 star luxury you would find in other moroccan or internationl hotels. Taking an authorization of 400 dollars upfront did not bother me but it might bother many american travelers. The architecture and the pool are amazing. The service needs a lot of work, the hotel seems bigger than it really is : only 500 rooms but totally out of control as far as the service goes.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view
