3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012 via mobile

Good hostel for good money. Toilet, shower( wait 5 minutes for hot water), TV with 12 channels( 2 arabian with english language). Nothing special but clean enough and only 18 euro for room for two people. Receptionist speak arabian and french and try english. Good place to stay in El Jadida with low budget

There are two types of rooms in Hotel Bordeaux: with and without bathroom. We chose the one with shower. The room was small but equipped with all the necessary facilities. The building is located in the middle of the medina so it’s close to the Portuguese City of Mazagan, which is El Jadida’s main attraction. Just a few meters away you can also find Restaurant Tchikito, which offers delicious fried fish and shrimps in very good prices.

We had a room with sanitary facilities on the first floor, which was equipped with TV and, quite surprisingly, a refrigerator. The room and toilet was clean and modern, and the bed provided a good night's sleep. Though the room is located in a maze of alleys, it’s not difficult to find it thanks to numerous signs which show the direction to the entrance. There is no possibility to buy breakfast in the hotel, but that is no problem as the surrounding medina offers various food products.

Cheap, really small but OK.
No breakfast included...a real problem during Ramadan.
However, it had a fridge which was real surprise at this price range.
No towels, also a surprise.
We only stayed one night so no big deal but not sure if we would select again.
Fine but certainly NOT above average or striving to be so.

An awful experience! We stayed in hotel Bordeaux one night with an organised tour, so, unfortunately, we could not change the hotel or our room, because the hotel was full.
The room was very small and dark, with high ceiling, actually the height of the room was much greater than the length or width and it felt like a prison cell.
Instead of a night table there was a dirty smelly non-functional fridge between the beds. We found rat droppings ON the fridge and on one of the beds. My friend disposed of them before I could take a documentary photo. Some other members of our tour reported cockroaches in their rooms. The toilet was combined with the shower (see photo) and the wall between the room and the WC/shower cubicle was not up to the ceiling so there was no privacy for using the bathroom anyway.
Furthermore, El Jadida was truly the ugliest filthiest place we have been to during our 12 day tour in Morocco. The old Cite Portuguese is not really worth visiting, except for the Cistern which is rather impressive. Instead of El Jadida I would suggest you go to Essaouira which we liked a lot.

Our room on the first floor facing the street unexpectedly had a hot shower. Two solar water heaters on the roof provided all the hot water we needed. Laundry lines on the roof-top terrace allowed us to dry laundry that we had washed in our room. The bathroom was odd but functional. Nice clean tiled room. Lots of light and noise from the street outside our room. We used ear-plugs and an extra bed covering to block noise and light. Not the most comfortable bed or pillows. If you're tall, watch out, there are foot boards. Friendly staff even if they didn't speak a word of English. Great location and price.
